Felix Manalo: Not an Angel, Not a Bird, Loses Rights to be Called Man

9/26/2015 , 430 Comments

Is Felix Manalo, the founder of the Iglesia ni Cristo, an angel?

What does the Bible say about “angel?”

HEBREWS 1:13-14
13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

"All" angels are "ministering spirits" that minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation. None of them was recipient of the honor of being called "Thou art My Son" thus separating our Lord Jesus Christ in being from all angels!

HEBREWS 1:4-5
4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

There is absolutely no angel recipient of the honor of being called "Thou art My Son" and being told to "sit at My right hand until I make thine enemies thy footstool.”

What we have just done is establish hierarchy in the work of salvation: Jesus Christ is above all angels or ministering spirits. This necessarily means that the work of salvation must be aligned to Christ and his teachings.

Not an Angel

Back to Felix Manalo of the Iglesia ni Cristo, can he be rightly called or referred to as an angel – using any part of the Bible?

Firstly, Manalo was born as a man, with flesh and bones, married twice, became a preacher of several false churches, (Christian Missionary Alliance, Seventh-Day Adventist, Colorum, Iglesia Metodista Episcopal, Presbyterian Church) and later established his own church with his erroneous teachings especially concerning himself as someone "sent" of God!

Loses Biblical Right

Is Manalo the “Last Messenger of God?”

This act of misrepresentation and presumptuousness pretending to be "the last messenger" of God in the last days stripped off Manalo every right to be biblically considered as "man!”

Presumptuous persons are called in the Bible as "natural born beasts.”

II PETER 2:10-12
10 But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.
11 Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.
12 But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;

Not the Angel from the East

The verse in the Bible that woefully motivated Manalo and cohorts to painstakingly assert that Manalo is an angel is the mention of an “angel ascending from the east.”

REVELATION 7:2
And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,

But this angel from the east, as we have proven in my earlier blogs, sealed not Filipinos but the "saved" among the twelve tribes of Israel. This then makes it impossible for Manalo to be the mentioned angel ascending from the east.

REVELATION 7:4
And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed a hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

Going back to the basics, all angels are ministering spirits!

HEBREWS 1:14
Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

Not a Spirit

Manalo is not a spirit! He cannot be an angel!

But let us examine their invented explanations about "angel.”

Notice their confused and muddled doctrine about angels. An issue of their official organ, the Pasugo, explains that an angel is not a being but a function!

[Note: The editor-in-chief (Isaias Samson Jr.) was excommunicated middle of this year because of charges against him from within the Iglesia ni Cristo.]

Because they cannot deny that Manalo is a human being, they assert that “angel” is not a nature or a being but a function! How cunning! They perfect deceit and evasion just so they could present Manalo as an angel!

Angels don’t marry

After some exchange of words in television and in radio between the ministers of the INC and me (your servant), they said that the word "angel" is not only a function but a state of being which can either be "spirit" or "man.” Their Pasugo stated it.

This attempt only shows their erroneous interpretation of the Scriptures and the weakness of their stand that Manalo is an angel.

For one, an angel of God does not marry! Manalo married twice!

LUKE 20:34-36
34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:
35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

There were fallen angels who left their own habitation.

JUDE 1:6
And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

Still, I would not say that Manalo is an angel - as one of those who left their own habitation!

Manalo cannot, in any sense, be an angel of God or a fallen angel because both are spirits in nature! The safe conclusion is, he (Manalo) is not the angel mentioned ascending from the east!

Through Symbols

The Bible uses symbolic terms, uses every figure of speech to relay or picture the truth. Hence, trees like olive tree is figuratively spoken of to represent two people: the Israelites as the good olive tree and the Gentiles as the wild olive tree.

THE ROMANS 11:24-25
24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?
25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in.

Through symbols, stars were mentioned to mean "angels.”

REVELATION 1:20
The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.

The symbolic dragon or Satan by its tail drew a third part of the stars in heaven and cast them to the earth.

REVELATION 12:3-4
3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

This third part of the stars in heaven symbolizes angels called the dragon's angels or Satan's angels.

REVELATION 12:9
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

We are sure that the third part of the stars in heaven are stars symbolic of angels. Why so? Because not a single star - if it is a literal star - can be contained in the planet earth. So, how much more the third part of the billion stars in heaven?

Stars are symbols of which in reality are the beings of angels. Nowhere in the Bible is it mentioned that angels - "all of whom are spirits" - were used to symbolize any other being, let alone Manalo!

How can a spirit, "unseen" or in human terms "invisible," symbolize something visible like Manalo?!

Considering all these things, an honest student of the Bible and an honest teacher of the word of God will never interpret that angels can be humans or that humans can be angels!

More to come, God willing.

May God bless you.

INC Manalo Twists Scriptures to Refer to Himself

9/19/2015 , 420 Comments

We will discuss for now truth in contents - texts and contexts - and so I ask you to be analytical.

The contents of the Bible, the truth in particular, came from one mind, the mind of God.

ISAIAH 55:8-9
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

This collection of precisely interwoven and knitted facts of information that came from the mind of God is called the “truth.”

PSALMS 119:160 (RSV)
The sum of thy word is truth; and every one of thy righteous ordinances endures for ever.

The undeniable truth mentioned in one part of the Holy Scriptures is a part of the general truth that the entire Bible conveys. For this reason, an honest-to-goodness student of the Bible would always consider citing a part of the truth in relation to the general truth. This is where the idea of "context" comes in. Text with or in relation to, is context.

In Revelation 7, the intent of the 5th angel shouting to the four others not to hurt the sea, the trees, and the earth, is for him, together with his company, to first accomplish their God-given task of sealing the foreheads of the servants of "our God." Logically and biblically, the sealing must be done first by the 5th angel and his companions, before the winds that the four angels are holding are let loose to destroy trees, sea, and the earth. It is within the text of Revelation 7:3.

REVELATION 7:3
Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

Taking Revelation 7:3 and disregarding the context is certainly a dangerous way of interpreting the verse. In the context of the following verse, we find that the intent and the task was consummated and those that were sealed were numbered exactly.

REVELATION 7:4
And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed a hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

The intent of the Manalistas of the Iglesia ni Cristo in disregarding the context of Revelation 7 is to evade the truth that the 5th angel did not seal Filipinos as they claim, but children of the twelve tribes of Israel!

From their Pasugo magazine dated January 1964, on Page 3, here’s the translation of this excerpt –

So, people from the Philippines (Filipinos) are the sheep of Jesus that are not yet in the coral when Christ was here on earth. What did Christ say that He would do to these sheep of His? He will make them one sheep or He will raise them as one church. It is Christ who will raise them and not Bro. Manalo.

But respecting the context of the story in Revelation 7, we can see a picture - a clear picture of persons that were sealed with the seal of God - and the particular time mentioned when the sealing was done by the 5th angel – not Manalo! Verse 3 shows the 5th angel speaking. Verse 4 shows the consummation – the sealing of 144,000 of all the tribes of Israel – not Filipinos!

Let’s go to events just before this to understand the context.

In Revelation 6, exactly before Revelation 7, something happening at a particular point in time was being seen by John.

REVELATION 6:12-17
12 and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Considering the texts and the contexts of these preceding verses, the time mentioned is not during the outbreak of World War 1 (1914) as claimed by the Manalistas!

On Page 33 of Pasugo, July 1964, they claim in the vernacular -

What are these carts that look like cyclones? These are war tanks. And what are the horses flying swiftly like eagles? These are airplanes called “aerial cavalry” or air shelters (World History, p. 478). When these airplanes are raiding, signals to people are heard that there are air raids. This signal is the sound of the sirens. When the people hear this, their hearts beat fast and they run to hide in caves called in the modern language as “air raid shelter.” Which world war first used tanks and airplanes? This was World War 1 that broke out in 1914 (World History, p. 478).

Referring to Verse 15 of Chapter 16, people are hiding in air raid shelters because there are bombs being dropped by the warring factions in that World War 1, they say.

But - it is the day not of war between humans like World War 1!

It is the day of the wrath of the Lamb!

It is not as cheap as how the Iglesia ni Cristo would put it – so that they can insert their advertisement about their church.

REVELATION 6:16-17
16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Asking the mountains and the rocks to fall on them is not hiding in air raid shelters to save oneself from harm but a desperate act, just because they do not want to experience the wrath of the Lamb. This is simply the irony of the truth in the context! Hilarious!

It is not the day the Iglesia ni Cristo was registered. It is the day of the Lamb! This is not war of 1914 but (I emphasize) the day of the wrath of the Lamb!

We are sure that the day of the Lamb is also the day of the Lord, because the Lamb is the Lord. It is the day also of judgment - a day when the Lord will come with His angels to gather all His people!

MATTHEW 24:29-31
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Fast forward to July 1970, Pasugo on Page 19 said in the vernacular –

The wind being mentioned here is different from the one we used to know because this is hot and does not blow and clean. It has a cart that carries something cyclone-like and horses that run faster than the eagle. These bring destruction. The horses that run faster than eagles when they raid are being made signals because they are modern instruments being used in war. The wind being mentioned here is war. The war being proven here is a world war (Isa. 34:1-2).

How cunning of Manalo to fool his people – twisting the Scriptures so he could insert himself and his church! These things from texts and contexts have yet to happen!

The accounts in Revelation 6 and 7 did not happen in 1914 when WW1 broke out! Nor did it happen in 1941 when WWII broke out.

Beginning from the opening of the sixth seal, we must notice that on Verse 12 of Revelation 6, the sun turned black and the moon became as blood. I am writing this particular blog at 2:20 in the afternoon of September 16, 2015. I looked out and the sun is still bright and not black. The truth is that these events have not yet happened!

Instead, this will happen in the day of the Lord. It is the day when angels will be sent by the Lord to gather and seal all those that are worthy of salvation. The first to be sealed are the saved people from the twelve tribes of Israel; then afterwards, the great multitude coming from all nations of the earth!

REVELATION 7:4
And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed a hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

Notice that this verse above starts with the conjunction "and," meaning it is a continuation of the information cited on verse 3 about the sealing of the servants of God. An honest student of the Scriptures will not just simply dismiss Verse 4 to conveniently take out of context Verse 3 just because of the term, "angel from the east" or "from the rising of the sun.”

The intent or task of sealing was mentioned in Verses 1-3 and the result was mentioned in Verses 4 and 9. That is a true story that will happen in what is called in the Bible as "the day of the Lamb!”

REVELATION 7:9-10
9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.

The day mentioned is the day of salvation, wherein each one considered saved will be sealed.

Now, we come to another verse that Manalo claims for himself. In Revelation 7, there is no mention of the term "far east.” The Manalistas are using the translation of Moffatt using the verse in Isaiah 46:11.

ISAIAH 46:11
Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.

It is presumptuous of Manalo to refer to himself. For convenience, they cite a new and paraphrased version called "The Moffatt Bible" which says:

ISAIAH 46:11 (THE MOFFATT BIBLE)
I carry out whate'er I choose,' summoning a bird of prey from the east, a man for my purpose from a land afar; I have said it, I will do it, I will carry out my plan.

Where is their point of reference to measure “afar?” The Philippines? And they use this to convince foreign lands? By this trick the Manalistas are misleading not only themselves but also even their followers! The trick is to disregard context, ancient codices, and rightful translations, using every kind of Bible verse available - even the mistranslated - to suit their invented stories!

This thing is prophesied in the Bible. The deceivers will be deceived, that is: they will deceive even themselves!

II TIMOTHY 3:13
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

By using 46:11 of Isaiah, another burden of proof have to be solved in the trickery of the Iglesia ni Manalo. Now, they have to prove that Manalo is a bird of prey. We will prove in the next issue of this blog that Manalo is neither a bird nor an angel nor a man!

God bless you.

Felix Manalo as Fanatically Believed is not an Angel!

9/12/2015 , 387 Comments

Felix Manalo is not an Angel - not in idea, in symbolism, neither in identity nor in any manner of biblical description!

But the members of the Iglesia ni Cristo ni Manalo (INCM) have been made to believe that their founder is an angel – the angel from the east, therefore a 5th angel in the story they indoctrinate their members with.

This topic concerning the claim of the INC that Manalo is "the angel from the east," I will tackle with the intent of enlightening brainwashed minds. As usual, we will use the Bible as the standard of truth.

Revelation 7 mentions "angels.” Five of them!

REVELATION 7:1-4
1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.
2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,
3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed a hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

Four angels standing on the four corners of the earth have the power to "hurt" the sea, the trees, and the earth, whose God is also the God of the angel from the east!

Note that the angel from the east speaks the following verse, addressed to the four angels on the four corners of the earth:

REVELATION 7:3
Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of "our" God in their foreheads.

So there is a 5th angel that refrains the four angels.

According to Manalo and company, he (Felix) is "the angel from the east" and the four other angels are "the big four" namely Woodrow Wilson of the United States, David Lloyd George of Britain, Vittorio Emanuele Orlando of Italy, and Georges Clemenceau of France who were instrumental in stopping the world war of 1914. They were “holding the wind.”

Further they explained that the "winds" being held by the four angels is interpreted as "war" more particularly the "First World War." The "sealing" on the foreheads of people is interpreted as "the preaching of the angel from the east and his company!” The term, "rising from the east," according to them, means that the angel is gradually being known.

All these are invented stories and misinterpretations of Manalo and the Manalistas believed by, according to them, "millions!" I perceive that these “believing” millions are most certainly ignorant of the scriptures!

Let us therefore, for the sake of truth, consider their interpretations, the undeniable truth in the Bible and the reality!

The Big Four
If “the big four” referring to Woodrow Wilson of the United States, David Lloyd George of Britain, Vittorio Emanuele Orlando of Italy, and Georges Clemenceau of France are the four angels, in reality, the big four never heard Manalo shouting. After all, who is Manalo to hinder the decisions of the then four great leaders of the most powerful nations on earth? If they were instrumental in stopping the world war of 1914, how did this Manalo figure in?

In the Bible, the four angels heard the angel from the east, that's why the task of sealing "the servants of our God" was consummated!

Let us lay first the biblical premise of the story in Revelation Chapter 7 to understand how in the world Manalo is suddenly in the picture.

Angels in the book of Revelation were described symbolically as "stars.”

REVELATION 1:20
The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.

Wrong Interpretation: Angels are not ministers
Religious leaders like Manalo interpret the angels of the seven churches in Asia as "ministers," "pastors," or "bishops."

This is utterly and biblically wrong! Why? Because the angels were represented by the symbol of "seven stars" in the right hand of the Revelator who is Jesus Christ, and the churches represented by "seven golden candlesticks.”

In sum, the interpretation of the Lord Jesus Christ is: seven stars = seven angels; seven golden candlesticks = seven churches.

A thinking student of the Bible must not further interpret that the angels are pastors, ministers, and the like. The seven golden candlesticks were interpreted by the Bible as seven churches. Should the INCM misinterpret this term also? And what will they be?

Stars are Angels
There are other instances in the book of Revelation wherein the word "angel" or "angels" were symbolized by "stars.”

We know from the book of Revelation that the dragon is Satan who has a host of angels with him.

REVELATION 12:9
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

This again proves that stars are used to symbolize angels.

A third part of the stars in heaven or a third part of the angels were drawn by the tail of the dragon or Satan. Are we going to interpret this as "ministers" or "pastors" or were they angels in reality?

“Winds” is not World War 1
If the "winds" held by the four angels or "the big four" is the war of 1914 and the "sealing" on foreheads is "the preaching of the gospel of Manalo,” then it must mean that the preaching should have started way before 1914 or before the blowing of the winds.

The reality is that Manalo started the Iglesia ni Manalo in 1914 according to their official registration in the Philippine government, and "preached and sealed" even after the war and until now with his company continuing his unfinished "task.” That’s how “winds” cannot be World War 1.

Manalo not that Angel from the East
You cannot simply call Manalo “the angel from the east” and disregard what that angel did as mentioned by the Bible.

The angel shouted to the four to refrain from hurting the earth, the sea, the trees, until he is through sealing the servants of God. Regardless of whether the four are angels or the four great men, Manalo cannot simply fit into the picture. He cannot be the fifth angel because the other four angels mentioned are not ministers.

If angels are ministers, why will there be dual meaning of angels in Revelation 7? One angel is a "minister" and the other four angels are head of state or political leaders? Simply hilarious!

The INCM claim Manalo came from the Far East to fit him to this “angel from the east” shouting to the four angels in Revelation 7. Is Philippines the “Far East?”

Territories and regions conventionally included under the term Far East are several countries like China, Japan and Korea among others in East Asia; Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines in Southeast Asia; and Russia in North Asia.

"Far East" is inherently Eurocentric because it is part of a geographical paradigm in which even Western Asia is the "Near East" or "Middle East.”

The term Far East came into use in European geopolitical discourse in the 12th century, denoting the Far East as the "farthest" of the three "easts", beyond the Near East and the Middle East. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Far_East).

But the Bible simply used the direction “east” in a sense differentiating it from the west direction for a purpose. In fact, Manalo exploited other Bible verses using “east” supposedly to refer to him.

Here’s one where I think the term “far east” was taken from this verse – with “far” as modifier of “country” placed instead as modifier of “east” to compose “far east” and therefore irresponsibly changing the whole meaning. But I will show you in the next blog that Manalo is not this bird.

Isa. 46:11: "Calling a ravenous bird from the east. A man who executes my counsel from a far country."

There is no way Manalo could have been one who tied the shoelace of any one powerful leader. It is wishful thinking to place him in the picture.

Another reality is that the so-called Big Four excludes Vittorio Emanuele Orlando of Italy, the supposed fourth one to make it to The Big Four. He was at first present in the Paris Peace Conference in January 1919, but demands were not allowed and so he left.

As Prime Minister of Italy, he [Vittorio Emanuele Orlando of Italy] went to the Paris Peace Conference in 1919. He demanded the fulfillment of the "secret Treaty of London of 1915, by which the Allies had promised Italy ample territorial compensation in Dalmatia for its entry into World War I."[7] However, Woodrow Wilson brought forth considerable opposition to Orlando's demands. Therefore, Orlando failed to secure British or French support. This caused him to leave the Peace Conference. However, he returned a month later. "Even then no solution satisfactory to Italy was found; Orlando resigned and was succeeded as premier by Francesco Nitti. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Big_Four_(World_War_I)]

It was only on January 12, 1919, years after the war that Leaders of the Big Four nations meet for the first time in Paris. (http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/leaders-of-the-big-four-nations-meet-for-the-first-time-in-paris). It was to decide what to do with Germany.

History therefore talks of the demands of The Big Three: David Lloyd George of Britain. Georges Clemenceau of France, and Woodrow Wilson of the United States. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize/history/mwh/ir1/bigthreerev3.shtml).

The Big Four, if they were four, met only in 1919 for the first time way after the war started in 1914. There is not a wee bit of association with the registration of Manalo’s church in any angle. The timing is skewed and whoever knit up the story can try again.

There is no sense in trying hard to twist the scriptures just to weave a story for the Iglesia ni Manalo and fit the four angels to four powers and then claim the other angel from the east as Felix Manalo.

How could Manalo even be greater than these allied powers as he supposedly commanded them not to hurt the earth, sea and trees before he could seal the servants of God in the foreheads? Fantastic story!

REVELATION 7:3
Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of "our" God in their foreheads.

I believe that this blog will add even more hatred to my person as expected from the fanatics of the INCM, but I want them to understand that I am writing with the intent of bringing enlightenment to the minds of the not-so-fanatic members of this sect.

The internet or the World Wide Web is filled with every kind of defamation against my person that a Christian preacher must expect. A true preacher, in his work of preaching the truth, is expected to be accused of all sorts. Nevertheless, I have to do my work.

MATTHEW 5:11
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Jesus Christ, our Lord, by simply doing only what is good and preaching only what is truth, made more enemies than friends! The same thing happened to the Apostle Paul.

GALATIANS 4:16
Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

However, the fanatics of the INCM will never cause me inconvenience by saying all manner of evil against my person. You want to trouble me? Refute what I say, and I will not sleep a good night sleep until I realize that your objection to what I teach is reasonable or just! Prove to me that I am wrong in whatever I say or write.

I am expecting criticisms not on my person but on what I preach, which you fanatics have failed to do!

I am waiting.

D. Coercion of subordinates.
Any public officer, or any officer of any public or private corporation or association, or any head, superior, or administrator of any religious organization, or any employer or land-owner who coerces or intimidates or compels, or in any manner influence, directly or indirectly, any of his subordinates or members or parishioners or employees or house helpers, tenants, overseers, farm helpers, tillers, or lease holders to aid, campaign or vote for or against any candidate or any aspirant for the nomination or selection of candidates.

Any public officer or any officer of any commercial, industrial, agricultural, economic or social enterprise or public or private corporation or association, or any head, superior or administrator of any religious organization, or any employer or landowner who dismisses or threatens to dismiss, punishes or threatens to punish be reducing his salary, wage or compensation, or by demotion, transfer, suspension, separation, excommunication, ejectment, or causing him annoyance in the performance of his job or in his membership, any subordinate member or affiliate, parishioner, employee or house helper, tenant, overseer, farm helper, tiller, or lease holder, for disobeying or not complying with any of the acts ordered by the former to aid, campaign or vote for or against any candidate, or any aspirant for the nomination or selection of candidates.

So it is clear that any head, superior, or administrator of any religious organization cannot compel his members or parishioners to aid, campaign or vote for or against any candidate or any aspirant for the nomination or selection of candidates. It is an election offense.

He cannot also demote, transfer, suspend, separate, excommunicate those “disobeying or not complying with any of the acts ordered by the former to aid, campaign or vote for or against any candidate, or any aspirant for the nomination or selection of candidates.” It is an election offense.

Omnibus Election Code – Article XXII
Sec. 261.Prohibited Acts under Election Offenses

E. Threats, intimidation, terrorism, use of fraudulent device or other forms of coercion. - Any person who, directly or indirectly, threatens, intimidates or actually causes, inflicts or produces any violence, injury, punishment, damage, loss or disadvantage upon any person or persons or that of the immediate members of his family, his honor or property, or uses any fraudulent device or scheme to compel or induce the registration or refraining from registration of any voter, or the participation in a campaign or refraining or desistance from any campaign, or the casting of any vote or omission to vote, or any promise of such registration, campaign, vote, or omission therefrom.

Compare these provisions with the Law of Manalo. Photo reference below says –

Primary Doctrines in the Church of Christ written by Eraño Manalo: “Do not destroy the unity of the church even in terms of voting or otherwise because it involves sin that merits excommunication from the church.”

These violations are very obviously being committed by the leaders of Iglesia ni Cristo-Manalo but no one seems to have the guts to put the law into force against these people. Why? Simply because their commanded votes practice serves the vested interests of politicians that most of the time fall prey to the snares of these influence peddlers!

This INCM practice as publicly known constitutes their leaders imposing on their members to vote for candidates of their choice under threat of excommunication if not followed. Hence, politicians are made to believe that if they get the nod of the leader, it is a sure win, even tagging them as "king makers."

The necessary consequence is that if the politician wins, evil and corruption win because of the exchange of favors that will eventually take place for the mutual advantage of each side. Evil favors evil. Interest favors interest!

Here's what Dep Ed has to say about this matter:

DEP ED
"The right to vote should be exercised wisely by picking the best candidate according to your conscience, not to the monetary value he has given during his campaigns."

But let us pause for a while. Let us do some thinking. Why do they reveal their candidate of choice only two or three days before the election? Reason: they are waiting for the result of the surveys and the winnable or whoever tops the survey would be their candidate! Quite cunning and crafty! These tricky foxes intend to impress that it is their votes that made the candidate win! The truth is they do things on the sly, but now the winner has to pay them back!

Let us look back into the past.

Long before the elections, before the pulse of the electorate is known through surveys, they had decided to backup a particular candidate but their candidate lost in the presidential race. The INCM candidate for the 1992 elections was Eduardo Cojuangco, Jr. but he lost to Fidel Ramos. Cojuangco, Jr. received only 4,116,376 (18.17%) votes as against Ramos’ 5,342,521 (23.58%).

Was the INC a kingmaker?

Iglesia ni Cristo supported Eduardo Cojuangco Jr.

An article written by Jake Astudillo (4/21/2013, Wordpress.com) registers other failed INC candidates. Here are excerpts from “Are We Now Going to Give the Country to Bloc-Voting People?” -

In 1992, the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) endorsed Danding Cojuangco to [the] Presidency. Danding landed only as 3rd in the final counting of votes. Six years later, in 1998, the INC supported Joseph Estrada who failed to continue his term.  On May 10, 2007, Michael Defensor, Ralph Recto and Vicente Sotto were endorsed as Senators by the INC but they lost in the 2007 elections. On May 5, 2010, the INC endorsed Mar Roxas as Vice-President but he lost. Again, on May 5, 2010, Raffy Biazon was endorsed by the INC as Senator but he lost. In the same year, on July 22, 2010, the Iglesia ni Cristo supported Manny Villar for the Senate Presidency but he failed to win.

Walden Bello in 2010 wrote about local INC leaders selling promised bloc votes to local candidates in Bulacan. He was then running as a Representative for Akbayan. Or is it a command vote? Alex Magno of Philippine Star calls this more of “command votes.” As practiced by the INC it is command votes, he said, “evoking sad imagery of witness voters and omnipotent political lords.”

So it is witty and satanically scheming to wait for the survey first and then favor the top bet to gain the honor of being "kingmaker" even if it was not so!

A food for thought for politicians whose heads are empty: if they are really king makers, on their own capacity, can they not field their own candidates in national positions?

Very obvious that their interest in putting their trusted members or friends in public office is the idea that favors will be exchanging between them. This is especially palpable in the case of Presidential elections. Now, if the “king-maker” claim is true at any one point they could easily run for national office, and hold the entire country under the caprices of their leader!

But all they do is lobby for some people to be placed in some sensitive positions in government, lobby to have someone be acquitted, or lobby for someone to remain in place despite irregularities bared. Why? Because actually the INC is not a king maker! National dailies have in fact been registering these unfortunate INC struggles through the years.

Here’s a report from Philippine Daily Inquirer of INC lobbying. They had wanted the former Supreme Court Justice Renato Corona to be acquitted. Four emissaries were said to have met with senators. Why do they have to stoop this low?

Identified here were Dan Orosa, a high-ranking INC official; Resty Lazaro, lawyer of the INC group; Manny Cuevas and Victor Cheng. The first two had been doing the rounds of senators since Congress went on break, said the report. The last two were doing hush-hush lobbying with senators when the impeachment resumed.

And here’s a very incisive report written by Aries Rufo of RappplerDotCom (7/28/2014) titled, “INC lobbies for key gov't positions.” This is actually the concluding part. There are earlier parts. Part 1 covers “INC: From rag-tag sect to influential wheeler-dealer?” and Part 2: “How potent is the INC's vote-delivery system?

We reproduced this concluding part (with our underscoring in red) because it names those people the INC placed in key government positions and therefore are understood by some quarters to be INC stooges (Read: people doing them favors).

INC lobbies for key gov't positions
Rappler / July 28, 2014

The INC makes it easy for their political allies to know what they want in the form of lists of appointive positions they want secured for their own members

MANILA, Philippines – It is not only elective officials that the Iglesia Ni Cristo tries to establish relationships with.

They also try to establish rapport with appointive officials – even if they’re non-INC members – especially if they are seen to be a possible source of help some day. They help lobby for the appointment or promotion of these officials to key government posts.

“It’s like a pass-it-forward thing,” De La Salle political science professor Gladstone Cuarteros said. Two such cases were former Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez and impeached chief justice Renato Corona, an INC member confirmed.

The INC’s clout was somewhat diminished under the administrations of former President Corazon Aquino and Fidel V. Ramos. Aquino was installed by a Catholic Church-backed People Power uprising, while Ramos, a Protestant, favored the Christian evangelical group, Jesus is Lord Movement of Brother Eddie Villanueva.

But the INC came back with a vengeance during the short-lived presidency of Joseph Estrada.

The former president and the Manalos, leaders of the church, have enjoyed close personal relationships dating back to when Estrada was mayor of San Juan. In fact, the headquarters of the INC used to be based in San Juan.

Returning the goodwill of the INC, Estrada appointed several members of the sect to key government positions. Shortly after assuming office, he appointed INC member Serafin Cuevas as his first secretary to the Department of Justice. He has since passed away. Two years later, Estrada appointed another INC member, Artemio Toquero, also as justice secretary.

How did Estrada know what could please the INC?

Iglesia’s list
The INC makes it easy for their political allies to know what they want in the form of lists of appointive positions they want secured for their own members. “They submitted a list to Estrada. They also submitted a list to President Aquino,” a former government official who both worked for Estrada and Aquino said.

The INC’s favorite playgrounds are the judiciary, law enforcement agencies, regulatory bodies, and revenue-generating agencies like the Bureau of Customs. “You could see these are key government positions. The aim is not to make money, but more for the protection of their members and easier access to government.”

The INC also enjoyed political considerations from former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Positions in the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court (SC) were filled up at the INC’s behest.

Among the justices who were beneficiaries of INC endorsements are incumbent SC Associate Justice Presbitero Velasco and retired SC justice Ruben T. Reyes. The INC also backed them when they were appointed to the Court of Appeals initially. Arroyo also appointed Reynaldo Wycoco, a retired general and INC member, as NBI chief. Wycoco died in 2005.

When Aquino assumed office, the INC was expecting the President to return the favor. To their dismay, however, Aquino paid little attention to the INC list, although he appointed INC member and former Quezon City police chief Magtanggol Gatdula to the National Bureau of Investigation.

He further incurred the ire of the INC when Aquino began targeting Gutierrez and Corona who are considered allies by the INC.

As early as August 2010, the INC expressed its displeasure over Aquino’s failure to appoint its recommended people in certain government posts, one INC source said. This source confirmed he was among those recommended by the INC to a revenue-generating agency but was bypassed.

The displeasure reached a point where INC executive minister Eduardo Manalo wrote a letter to Aquino withdrawing the church’s list of recommendations.

The INC source said Aquino quickly sought a meeting with Manalo to mend ties, but Manalo was no longer in a reconciliatory mood. Manalo sent one of his trusted aides to meet Aquino in his residence in Times Street in Quezon City.

To please the INC, Aquino agreed to retain a Ninoy Aquino International Airport customs official – an INC member – in his post, a separate source said. But the downward spiral of Aquino’s relationship with the INC was by then irreversible.

Show of strength
In EDSA 3 in 2001, the INC firmly realized they have clout and influence even outside the polls. “That’s where they got more empowered,” Cuarteros said. Mobilizing its members to flock to EDSA Shrine in support of Estrada, who was arrested and detained for plunder charges, the INC discovered a new power source they could tap to make their presence felt.

This show of strength was even more evident in Aquino’s time. They have flexed their muscle, at least in the streets, and in other subtle ways. Their medical missions in the run-up to the INC’s centennial celebration, were a subtle show of force indicating they have the numbers and are growing.

During the impeachment of Corona, the INC staged what it called a “religious activity” but which many political observers interpreted as a show of force and support for the embattled impeached Chief Justice. (READ: Iglesia’s show of force)

It was also a show of resentment over how the Aquino government was treating INC members in government. The INC invited its local political allies and even high-ranking officials of the Catholic Church who are critical of Aquino.

One of the more prominent cases was that of Gatdula, whose career was nurtured by the INC. In 2006, he was named by then Quezon City Mayor and now Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr as Quezon City chief of police – upon the strong lobby of the INC.

Gatdula was however sacked by Aquino after reports surfaced linking him to the kidnapping of a Japanese.

The INC had wanted Aquino to give Gatdula a graceful exit by letting him resign instead of being fired. But things turned for the worse when the INC’s Eduardo Manalo interpreted as “blackmail” Malacañang’s counter-offer that the charges against Gatdula would be dropped if Cuevas backed out as Corona’s lawyer.

Beyond the streets, the INC was also working behind the scenes to rally support for Corona among senators. While Malacanang sought to downplay the INC intervention, it nevertheless prompted Aquino to seek an audience with Manalo.

Shifting loyalties
To be sure, the INC has built a formidable image that it can make or break the political career of those aspiring for public office. Its solid vote is a prized catch for anyone, and could possibly attract the undecided voters to go for the potential winners.

INC spokesman Edwil Zabala said bloc-voting is based on Biblical teachings. “One of the Bible teachings is unity. Unity in serving the Lord God. Unity in faith. Unity in rendering judgment. That's in the Bible. So when members of the Iglesia ni Cristo, for example, here in the Philippines, are asked to vote, we are being asked to render a judgment. So we have to put God, obedience to God first, before obedience to any man-made law. If God requires unity, if God requires that the body of Christ, the Church of Christ be one, we will uphold it no matter how others may react to it.”

Essentially, it seems to be a reverse of the adage, “The voice of the people is the voice of God.” But for all the political posturing, show of force and unity of the INC during elections, it suffers one major flaw: shifting loyalties. They could be rabidly supporting a candidate one time, and then move to the other side the next time.

Such was the case of Estrada, whom the INC had supported all his political life, except in the 2010 polls. Escudero was treated similarly.

On the local front, former Manila Mayor Joselito Atienza had the same experience in his proxy battle against rival Alfredo Lim. In the 3 elections for the Manila mayoralty race – one of which was contested by Lim, the INC backed Atienza. However, when Atienza pushed his son, Arnold, to contest the mayoral race after he (the older Atienza) completed his 3 terms, the INC transferred its support to Lim.

When Estrada contested the Manila mayoral race against Lim in 2013, the INC swung back to Estrada.

“They’re just being pragmatic,” observed a former Cabinet official and political observer. They will go to the one who they can benefit from.”

The retired archbishop said this is the problem when decisions by church higher-ups in political matters are personality-based and are not arrived at with full discernment. It can be subject to the whims and caprices of church leaders. –Rappler.com

The unconstitutional practice of this so-called powerful religious group is surely a great threat against the principle of democracy!

Christian Doctrine of Unity?
They say that they vote by bloc because "unity" according to them is a Christian doctrine, citing 1 Corinthians 1:10. But here is what this verse says -

I CORINTHIANS 1:10
Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

They say that to vote is to judge, they must be one in mind and in judgment, thus, to vote forcibly by bloc! This is clearly an intended evil interpretation of the holy commandment of unity among Christians!

To be a Christian is not to be a "robot"! Christians are free under a law called in the Bible as "law of liberty"!

JAMES 1:25
But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

Christians are not subject to the dictates of another man!

I CORINTHIANS 7:22-23
22 For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant.
23 Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.

Unity taught to Christians is unity in Christ and in the gospel, not unity in serving the wiles of some men – political, material, or otherwise! A wile is a trick or stratagem intended to ensnare or deceive. It is trickery on the innocent. Brandishing the flag of spiritual unity while undermining their human free will is actually a play of words that Christ never endorsed.

GALATIANS 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

PHILIPPIANS 1:27
Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

"One mind" or "united minds" for the faith of the gospel is what is meant by Christ - not unity in commanded bloc voting!

Let us repeat 1 Corinthians 1:10.

I CORINTHIANS 1:10
Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

What is "one judgment" or the "same judgment?” There are things in the church that must be decided on or judged upon within the church. The true church judges not on things outside the church.

I CORINTHIANS 6:1-6
1 Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints?
2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?
4 If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.
5 I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?
6 But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.

I CORINTHIANS 5:12-13 (RSV)
12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge?
13 God judges those outside. " Drive out the wicked person from among you. "

So it is clear that judging or rendering judgment wherein the unity of the brethren is required is on matters within the church - not among politicians!

Do you perceive the foolish interpretation of the Manalistas? I pray "harinawa!” So be it!

Christians have their share of civil obligations as provided for by the laws of the New Testament.

I PETER 2:13
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;

For the Lord's sake and for a peaceful life, Christians are duty bound to obey human laws!

I TIMOTHY 2:2
For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

THE ROMANS 13:1-2
1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

If religious leaders will abide by this Christian law, they will not coerce or threaten their members of excommunication if they will not vote for candidates of their leader’s choice.

The constitution provides that a voter must vote according to his own conscience with his own free will and without intimidation. That is the essence provided for in Omnibus Election Code - Article XXII – Election Offenses. Biblically, a Christian can by his individual capacity, "render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's.”

Like Robots
Bloc voters under the coercion of their leader are like robots, not thinking, not choosing, not picking, and most especially not voting according to their conscience. They are but "zombies" moved by the evil power of their leaders! How did they come to be like this? They have become fanatics by their own will.

If Christians can choose for himself, a wife or husband, why can he not in simple choice of a candidate?

I CORINTHIANS 7:39
The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.

If it is within God's permission to choose even between life and death, salvation and perdition, why can he not for a candidate?

DEUTERONOMY 30:19
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

In fact, it is a freedom of God's servants since time immemorial – to choose between one and the other – because not every thing is the same.

JOB 34:4
Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good.

What is termed in the INCM as "pagkakaisa" or unity is not really pagkakaisa. Why? Because the term, pagkakaisa, is reached after due consultation and consideration of everyone- not as dictated by only one.

Unity comes about not through coercion but through the submission of individual human free will – a will that is given by God intended to help the person discern between good and evil. Remove that will and you culture a robot, mindless and following no matter what evil you suggest.

May God bless you.
