Shutting the Mouth: Let us Pray for Peace

11/05/2016 , 63 Comments

The series of events and killings happening in the Philippines awakened my concern, the latest of which is the killing of surrenderee Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. inside the Baybay, Leyte Sub-Provincial Jail.

Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa killed in ‘firefight’ inside jail

Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. was killed in a “firefight” after allegedly resisting arrest at the Baybay, Leyte Sub-Provincial Jail, early Saturday morning.

A firefight between Espinosa and Raul Yap and the operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Northern Leyte (CIDG8) resulted in the deaths of the two detainees, a police incident report said.

http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/841271/rolando-espinosa-killed-in-jail

Citizens had been warned of the extent and depth of the corruption networks involved in illegal drugs in our country. Some believe that a prime witness like Espinosa ought to have been put under SAF custody in Camp Sto. Domingo, or even under the Marines in a Marine camp.

Considering the time 4AM, not so many are awake to lend a helping hand. The report of what happened is incredible!

It is expected that the culprits will work as hard as possible to cover up the murder of these two helpless men in prison! I say "helpless" because they were behind bars, without any weapon.

But there are inevitable possibilities. They may have been silenced by whoever had interest in their testimonies about the things they know of the drug trade wherein they were involved.

To judge that it is the government that planned the "extra judicial killing," doesn't merit logical reasoning. Again, EJK is normally attributed against operatives of the government under a blanket command to purge.

Who will benefit if Espinosa’s mouth is shut forever? The people in his blue book? Among the two groups of Police Force, who are to take the blame? The CIDG serving the search warrant? The Warden and his guards?

Some policemen who according to the President are also in the long list of drug personalities can be used as instruments of some unseen power. These are possibilities. But let us wait for evidence to come in.

What has happened has happened. No human can bring back the lives of these people who cannot be called victims; nor can they be called innocents. We have to wait and see. (Can this be called crime? Can this be called justice?)

Christians may be dwellers in a country of injustice, and corrupt government like in Rome, but there is a way to live in peace. Let us pray!

I TIMOTHY 2:1-2
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

In Rome, it was emphasized by Paul to Christians living there to be subject to authorities.

THE ROMANS 13:1-3
1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

With corruption in the Romans' system of government, what is normal is that authorities are not "terrors to good works, but to the evil." So we have to pray for authorities to be more leaning on the side of what is good and not evil.

Let us pray unceasingly.

I THESSALONIANS 5:17
Pray without ceasing.

With us, we are facing difficult situations in our country. May the love of country and patriotism rise up in us. We need to pray for the Philippines as we need the Lord's wisdom and blessing. In the past, we have faced many difficult times. It is prayer that will see us through. Let us invite the intervention of the Almighty for our beloved country.

Let us pray.

  2. Nothing is certain at this point. Some claim the killings are nothing more than criminals ensuring the silence of witnesses. Others claim EJK. So it is wise of Mr Controversy to say "let evidence come in." Let it speak the truth. Even wiser of him, to depend upon the power of prayer. This blog never fails to amaze.

When I watched Al Pacino's movie "SCARFACE" the first time, one of the most shocking scene in the movie was when a RIOT was deliberately orchestrated by the Cubans in prison , so Scarface could stab and kill the targeted lawyer in the same prison just to make it look like a circumstantial death. Then came the similar modus operandi in a popular TV series entitled Sons of Anarchy where a HIT was ordered by a rival gang to silence a witness. Also the same M.O. in the hit TV series Breaking Bad. Now , you would think that those shows portrayed by the actors have inspired the prisoners to conduct the riots... but in reality it was the other way around. The movies just brought it to our attention that riots sometimes happen in the prison to serve that purpose. The purpose and intent TO SILENCE someone. It was a gruesome scenario which happens normally in maximum penitentiary.

The case that Bro.Eli was exemplifying in his blog projects and illustrates a similarity to it. But what can we really do...IF...that is IF... the ones that perpetrated it were the ones that implements the law or the ones that breaks it but has already bought the law? Truly neither nor would be in our hands to find out. And yes only prayers could resolve the formidable.

This is another eye opener. May the readers of this blog find the WISDOM and the message Bro.Eli was trying to convey. Thanks be to God for Bro.Eli's ceaseless patience in creating another informative blog such as this.

    To God be the Glory!

  6. We must submit to authorities and pray for them so that we will live a peaceful life.

What Pres. Duterte is doing is good to not tolerate drug lords who were kings in previous administrations.

We pray for the Philippines for the Filipinos to have peace.

    Thanks be to GOD

  7. The killing of Albuera, Leyte Mayor Espinosa is troubling. It reflects how serious the Philippine drug problem is and the possibility of how it disturbs our daily lives. Thank God Mr. Controversy advises Filipinos the best biblical way to keep our cool and peace amid corruptions in our society: Praying to God.

  8. This is not good for the president MR. Duterte. It's very obvious that the blaming will point to EJK that the U.S. is presently accusing Philippine administration. The president needs to solve this puzzle otherwise his effort to get the Filipinos his own feet Will soon be history.

  17. Movie wise comparison this puzzle that going on right now may need the ACCOUNTANT. this is bad. What seems to be publicly implied is obviously happening pointing to rectify EJK. Is there a great hand over it?

  20. In my opinion, Mayor Rolando Espinosa, Sr. was silenced on the guise of resisting arrest by the unseen powers who had interest in preventing the mayor's testimonies about the drug trade wherein they were involved. Arrest is the taking of a person into custody inorder that he may be bound to answer for the commission of an offense. The late mayor was already in jail and therefore already under custody. Is it necessary for him to be arrested again and be put into custody again behind bars? Was the late mayor armed during the supposed arrest which warranted a firefight? I am just asking. We need evidence and factual investigation details on the incident.

  27. The killing of Mayor Espinosa raises more questions and cast a clout of doubt to our government war on drugs declaration, is the killing of the mayor is to silence him as a form of EJK to stop him in revealing those influential drug coddlers in our government? This turn of events was clearly a sign of how deep the illegal drugs penetrated our country. Since our government will conduct a thorough investigation bout the matter, Let‘s wait and pray that the truth will come out #LetUsPrayForPH

  41. It must be Espinosa's subconscious mind which triggered him to surrender. Decided and willing now to cooperate with the government, his voice could no longer be heard for his mouth was shut forever. He was a huge asset because he has the list that will lead to the powerful clue and so the conspiracy took over. What has happened, has happened. GOD allowed this to happen so now let's do our role as Christians. Let's pray for the authorities of our country- yes, hard and without ceasing. While the Philippines is so blessed by GOD with unspeakable gifts, the devil will not stop to put us in difficult situations at all times, so let's be vigilant.
