Confusion in the Absence of Order
First there is order or peace, and then disorder or confusion may follow. There can be no confusion where there is first order and peace. When God is placed first and always, expect order to follow.
The word of God says, "God is not a God of confusion but of peace."
I CORINTHIANS 14:33
For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
I THESSALONIANS 5:23
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The word translated "confusion" in the English Bible is "akatastasia" which meanings are: instability, disorder, commotion, confusion, and tumult. These things are obviously observable worldwide. All these given meanings of the word translated as "confusion" are present in governments, religion, societies, and institutions of men!
From G182; instability, that is, disorder: - commotion, confusion, tumult.
There was confusion, instability, disorder, commotion, and tumult in the Catholic Church when three men claimed to be the pope in what was called the "Great Schism." There was also confusion in many other instances wherein there was contention of power among its leaders.
The Western Schism or Papal Schism was a split within the Roman Catholic Church which lasted from 1378 to 1417. Three men simultaneously claimed to be the true pope. Driven by politics rather than any theological disagreement, the schism was ended by the Council of Constance (1414–1418).
Confusion ensued when the Catholic Church was at the heights of its abuse of power selling forgiveness to its faithful members through the doctrine of "indulgences." One of its cardinals spoke about this against the church that signaled the start of the protestant movement.
In one of the forums talking about indulgence, the standard meaning attached to it from the Catholics who observe this practice is “like a gift you receive from doing something good. So think of going to confession, communion, prayers, et cetera as the good acts. In return, you receive the gift of the indulgence which in the church usually means time taken off from purgatory.” Here, there is confusion too.
It was confusion that resulted in the birth of the Church of England.
Church of England
Henry VIII started the process of creating the Church of England after his split with the Pope in the 1530s. Henry was anxious to ensure a male heir after his first wife, Catherine of Aragon, had borne him only a daughter. He wanted his marriage annulled in order to remarry. In 1534 after several attempts to persuade the Pope to grant an annulment, Henry passed the Act of Succession and then the Act of Supremacy. These recognized that the King was "the only supreme head of the Church of England called Anglicana Ecclesia". Henry adopted the title given to him by the Pope in 1521, that of Defender of the Faith.
Confusion was also the same reason that caused enmity between supposed leaders and at times connivance between the Roman Empire and the emerging power of the papacy to maintain their grip of power.
WHAT WAS THE MAIN ISSUE BETWEEN POPE GREGORY VII AND EMPEROR HENRY IV? The main issue between the Pope and the Emperor was who had the right to appoint church officials in the Catholic Church. This time period was called the Investiture of Controversy. Prior to Pope Gregory VII taking office the common practice of many monarchs, including the preceding Holy Roman Emperor was to pick the high ranking church officials they wanted and placed them in office. Gregory wanted to put an end to that practice in 1074-1075, which he did end up doing. This forced the Holy Roman Empire into conflict with the Catholic Church, since many Catholic bishops essentially held "duchies" and "fiefdoms" of their own, so when Henry lost the power to name bishops he also lost control of just about half his lands.
Church and state in medieval Europe
The Church gradually became a defining institution of the Roman Empire. Emperor Constantine issued the Edict of Milan in 313 proclaiming toleration for the Christian religion, and convoked the First Council of Nicaea in 325 whose Nicene Creed included belief in "one holy catholic and apostolic Church". Emperor Theodosius I made Nicene Christianity the state church of the Roman Empire with the Edict of Thessalonica of 380.
After the fall of the Roman Empire in the 5th century, there emerged no single powerful secular governments in the West, but there was a central ecclesiastical power in Rome, the Catholic Church. In this power vacuum, the Church rose to become the dominant power in the West.
Confusion is also the reason why clergies did what they did, that removes the meaning of spirituality they had intended.
History tells us that the tormenting tentacles of the papacy were in Nicea in 325 CE…The Bishops under the popes, since then, kept on getting imperial treasury and influence at the courts. The members of the Catholic clergy manipulated political authority. Rampant corruption and immorality swept those lands. Soliciting sexual favours from female penitents allured the clergies for religious power and authority.
In modern times, this very spirit of confusion caused the two most devastating wars that humanity will never forget.
Meanwhile, the word translated in the American Standard Bible as "incest" from the word tebel and bâlal has also one of its meanings as "confusion."
Apparently from H1101; mixture, that is, unnatural bestiality: - confusion.
A primitive root; to overflow (specifically with oil); by implication to mix; also (denominative from H1098) to fodder: - anoint, confound, X fade, mingle, mix (self), give provender, temper.
Practically, incest is confusion! When affection and sexual attraction is felt between the nearest of kins, the persons involved are literally, spiritually and morally confused!
6 None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him, to uncover their nakedness: I am the LORD.
7 The nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
8 The nakedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father's nakedness.
9 The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father, or daughter of thy mother, whether she be born at home, or born abroad, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover.
10 The nakedness of thy son's daughter, or of thy daughter's daughter, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover: for theirs is thine own nakedness.
11 The nakedness of thy father's wife's daughter, begotten of thy father, she is thy sister, thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
12 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father's sister: she is thy father's near kinswoman.
13 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother's sister: for she is thy mother's near kinswoman.
14 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father's brother, thou shalt not approach to his wife: she is thine aunt.
15 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy daughter-in-law: she is thy son's wife; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
16 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy brother's wife: it is thy brother's nakedness.
17 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, neither shalt thou take her son's daughter, or her daughter's daughter, to uncover her nakedness; for they are her near kinswomen: it is wickedness.
18 Neither shalt thou take a wife to her sister, to vex her, to uncover her nakedness, beside the other in her life time.
17 And if a man shall take his sister, his father's daughter, or his mother's daughter, and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness; it is a wicked thing; and they shall be cut off in the sight of their people: he hath uncovered his sister's nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity.
18 And if a man shall lie with a woman having her sickness, and shall uncover her nakedness; he hath discovered her fountain, and she hath uncovered the fountain of her blood: and both of them shall be cut off from among their people.
19 And thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother's sister, nor of thy father's sister: for he uncovereth his near kin: they shall bear their iniquity.
20 And if a man shall lie with his uncle's wife, he hath uncovered his uncle's nakedness: they shall bear their sin; they shall die childless.
21 And if a man shall take his brother's wife, it is an unclean thing: he hath uncovered his brother's nakedness; they shall be childless.
22 Ye shall therefore keep all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: that the land, whither I bring you to dwell therein, spew you not out.
Here is a case of confusion: It is referred to as Genetic Sexual Attraction (GSA) relationship.
EXCLUSIVE: 'We ended up kissing and kissing led to other things': Mother, 36, and son, 19, who fell in love when they met last year after she gave him up for adoption as a baby, say they'll go to JAIL to defend their relationship
A mother and son whose forbidden love affair could land them each a lengthy jail sentence have declared they are 'madly in love' and nothing will tear them apart.
Monica Mares, 36, and her son Caleb Peterson, 19, face up to 18 months in prison if found guilty of incest at a trial later this year in New Mexico.
But the mother and son couple have vowed to fight for their right to have a sexual relationship and are appealing to the public to donate to their legal fund.
In an exclusive individual interviews with Daily Mail Online, they told how they are willing to risk everything to be together - and have decided to go public with their affair in a bid to raise awareness of Genetic Sexual Attraction (GSA) relationships.
Incest is not only committed with persons of near consanguinity but also with persons of whom one has no blood relationship but is the wife or husband of one’s relative in blood.
I CORINTHIANS 5:1-2
1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.
2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.
If someone can commit incest with her daughter-in-law, more so when it is with his biological daughter.
LEVITICUS 20:12 (NASB)
'If there is a man who lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall surely be put to death; they have committed incest, their bloodguiltiness is upon them.
These things are obviously detestable and abominable but they really do exist among humanity!
But what is the cause of all these confusions, instability, disorder, commotion, and tumult?
More to follow.
