The Fallacy of the Primacy of the Catholic Church

Salvation Outside The Church

Here is the claim of the former pope, Benedict XVI posted on The Irish Times last July 10, 2007:

“Pope Benedict XVI has reasserted the universal primacy of the Roman Catholic Church, approving a document released Tuesday that says Orthodox churches were defective and that other Christian denominations were not true churches.”

It takes a lot of misguided guts and false courage to claim that your church is the only true church; and those outside it, do not have the “means of salvation” as what the present Roman pontiff claims. Although the Second Vatican Council, which was approved by two of his predecessors, Pope John XXIII and Pope Paul VI, said that the Scriptures or the Holy Bible should guide the theological and the devotional life of the Catholic Church, this seems to be just a camouflage of the erroneous belief of the RCC. Why? The official Bible of the Roman Catholic Church states that:

1 CORINTHIANS 5:13 (Douay-Rheims Version)
For them that are without, God will judge. Put away the evil one from among yourselves.

Even the most holy of the Roman pontiff (if there be one) does not have any right judging those outside the church, granting (without accepting) that the RCC is the true church. God judges those that are without or outside the church of the Bible.

This claim is highly unscriptural, considering the fact that the RCC has not reached all nations of the world in its almost 2 millennia of existence. Justice and equity call for love and compassion. We do not have the right to judge people with whom we have not yet shared the truth. The apostolic teaching is, those who were not reached by the preaching of the Gospel, but are doing the things contained in the law, even if they have not yet heard the law, they will be justified.

ROMANS 2:11-15 (Douay-Rheims Version)
11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
12 For whosoever have sinned without the law shall perish without the law: and whosoever have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law.
13 For not the hearers of the law are just before God: but the doers of the law shall be justified.
14 For when the Gentiles, who have not the law, do by nature those things that are of the law; these, having not the law, are a law to themselves.
15 Who shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness to them: and their thoughts between themselves accusing or also defending one another…

What is apostolic, is to believe that there is justification (or salvation) for those who, while they have not heard the law, are doing the things contained in the law written by God in their conscience. God is fair, compassionate, and just (not like all the popes in Rome who carelessly judge those outside their church). God can save even those who have no faith.

1 TIMOTHY 4:10 (King James Version)
For therefore we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those that believe.

Notice the phrase especially of those that believe. God can save even those who are incapable of believing.

Can a child or a babe have faith? Can a moron, a Mongoloid, or a mentally retarded believe?

HEBREWS 5:13 (King James Version)
For every one that useth milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.

But God can definitely save them — even if they do not join the Catholic Church. In fact, the very recent findings (but very much delayed biblically) of the International Theological Commission (ITC) said that babies who died without baptism will go to heaven, thus, belying the centuries-old erroneous, non-apostolic and non-biblical belief in limbo. This pope is certainly not of a sound memory. He forgot the most famous and influential product of the Second Vatican Council (Lumen Gentium 8).

Are babies born of Jewish and non-Christian parents qualified to enter heaven? If they are, then they are not members of the Catholic Church; so, the conclusion of the pope that outside the RCC has “no means of salvation” is false! God has it, because He is the only qualified judge and not anybody else outside of The True Church, which certainly is not the Roman Catholic Church, because its teachings are not apostolic.

If the teachings of a church are apostolic, they must conform with the most fundamental apostolic teachings in the Bible. They must be written in apostolic epistles or books. We must learn them directly from the writings of the apostles!

1 CORINTHIANS 4:6 (Douay-Rheims Version)
But these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollo, for your sakes: that in us you may learn that one be not puffed up against the other for another, above that which is written.

Accepting any teachings not written by the apostles, like limbo and purgatory, is being non-apostolic!

1 CORINTHIANS 5:13 (Douay-Rheims Version)
For them that are without, God will judge…

Remember, God will judge and not the pope!

So, is the statement of Pope Benedict XVI, that other Christians outside the Roman Catholic Church are not true Christians, biblically correct? I vehemently disagree!

We will prove in another article that Catholicism is not Christianity.

God Bless.

Limbo: A Catholic Invented Doctrine

11/02/2018 0 Comments

The Catholic Doctrine Limbo Is a Lie

Good afternoon,

Bro. Eli, I’m a Catholic. I just would like to be enlightened on what verse(s) in the Bible can you find the place where the soul of dead people go until such time that the day of judgment comes. Is it true that if a person dies suddenly his/her soul still haunts the area where he/she died? Is it true that their souls stay here for the first 40 days after death?

Thank You Very Much.

Cherry Atienza

pieatienza@yahoo.com

 Dear Cherry,

Welcome to my website!

I would be very glad to answer your question using the Bible as the basis, because it is where the word of God is recorded. But in a corner of my mind, I feel sad and sorry for your question because I can perceive that so many Catholics like you are lost in their belief not because they are hard-headed people, but because they are being deprived by their priest of the proper knowledge due them.

JEREMIAH 23:30
Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that steal my words every one from his neighbor.

A teacher or a preacher must teach the entire truth of God available in the Bible for the salvation of man. The danger of being deprived of wisdom and understanding may result to destruction.

HOSEA 4:6
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

It is God’s commandment, and the primary responsibility of a preacher, to make known unto His people the word of God.

JEREMIAH 26:2
Thus saith the LORD; Stand in the court of the LORD’s house, and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD’s house, all the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word…

The fact that not only a word but an entire doctrine is not being taught to you by your priests aggravates their negligence and your chances of being lost.

ROMANS 11:25
For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in.

History and documents testify to the inability of Catholic authorities to teach the truth to about a billion adherents of the Catholic Church. For so many centuries, Catholic authorities, from the pope to the parish priest, made people believe that there is a limbo; where souls of unbaptized children go if in any case they die.

I know you are using a computer — maybe a laptop. May I help you through your computer find the truth. You can search the entire Bible looking for the word ‘limbo’ in less than 15 seconds. Limbo is not a teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ, neither it is apostolic, because it is not in the Bible but only an ‘invention’ of Catholic priests.

ECCLESIASTES 7:29
Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.

These inventions are also called in the Bible as fables.

2 TIMOTHY 4:3-4
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Millions of Catholics have died in the past believing that there is such a gory place called limbo: But now, to the surprise of the world, the present pope discarded the doctrine of limbo and threw it into the vault of oblivion in the Vatican City.

Souls of unbaptized children go to limbo and souls of grown ups go to purgatory. You must not be surprised if someday you will wake up to know that the Pope is also discarding the doctrine of purgatory. After all, it is not in the Bible, not even the slightest idea about it.

But where do souls go after death? Will they linger for forty days near the place where they died and hunt for anything? Let us consult the word of God.

ECCLESIASTES 9:5-6
5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion forever in any thing that is done under the sun.

After the death of our physical body even our memory and emotions do perish. A dead man can do nothing.

ECCLESIASTES 9:10
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

The spirit returns to God and the dust returns to dust.

ECCLESIASTES 12:7
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

This is so if the one who died is a godly man, his spirit will return to God, but if a man is wicked, then his spirit is imprisoned until judgment day.

1 PETER 3:19-20
19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

What about the soul?

JOB 12:10
In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

This gives us peace of mind for we know that the souls of our dearly departed are in the hands of God. A vision was seen by John wherein the souls of murdered Christians were asking for God’s justice, but God told them that the time of vengeance has not yet come, and said, they should rest for some more time until judgment day.

REVELATION 6:9-11
9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellow servants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

Can there be any part of your being that will linger on earth or return to your house and stay for 40 days? None!

JOB 7:9-10
9 As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away: so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more.
10 He shall return no more to his house, neither shall his place know him any more.

The CBCP (Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines — the largest Catholic country in Asia) said that the soul of a departed relative may visit their former dwelling place and relatives, and even advised their loved ones to listen to their message, which is an utter rejection and defiance of the Biblical teachings of God. God prohibits the living to consult the dead. It is an abomination in His sight.

DEUTERONOMY 18:10-12
Don’t sacrifice your children in the fires on your altars; and don’t let your people practice divination or look for omens or use spells or charms, and don’t let them consult the spirits of the dead. The LORD your God hates people who do these disgusting things, and that is why he is driving those nations out of the land as you advance. (Good News Bible translated with permission by Catholic authorities. The complete Bible has the imprimatur of John Francis Whealon, Archbishop of Hartford.)

I want you to think about this, if there really is a purgatory, how can they visit their former dwelling place and loved ones? The truth is that they will be in God’s hands until the resurrection. What will happen in the resurrection?

DANIEL 12:2
And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

EZEKIEL 37:4-6
4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.
5 Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:
6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

Nobody can escape God’s judgment; the dead will be resurrected to face the judgement seat of God.

REVELATION 20:11-12
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

God Bless.

There Is No Biblical Evidence That Purgatory Is Real

The fallacy that is purgatory

2 TIMOTHY 3:16 (ASV)
Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness.

All Scriptures inspired of God are profitable for:

• Teaching
• Reproof
• Correction
• Instruction

These are the main concerns of every Scripture inspired of God! History wise, Scriptures teach, reprove, correct and instruct in righteousness.

The long history of the Israelites as a people teaches every generation thereafter with correction, reproof and instruction.

1 CORINTHIANS 10:6, 11
6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
11 Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

Prophecy wise, all Scriptures inspired of God, convey the same thoughts and intent.
DEUTERONOMY 28:47-48
47 Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;
48 Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.

JEREMIAH 25:11
And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

All matters of faith must be learned from the inspired Scriptures, no more, no less!

1 CORINTHIANS 4:6 (Revised Standard Version)
I have applied all this to myself and Apol’los for your benefit, brethren, that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another.

“…that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written…”

Why not go beyond?

Because they were written as per commanded by the Lord.

1 CORINTHIANS 14:37
If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.

REVELATION 21:5
And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

Any article or any matter of faith not written in the Scriptures should not be accepted by a prudent servant of God.

GALATIANS 1:8
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

Beliefs not written in the Scriptures come from satan!

2 CORINTHIANS 11:3-4, 13-15
3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Teachings coming from satan through his ministers are camouflaged to make it appear as though they were of God!

Alleging that the doctrine of purgatory is in the Latin Bible is a clear manifestation of doctrinal bankruptcy! It’s clear that it is not in the Hebrew and Greek Bible, the original languages used in the writing of the sacred Scriptures! And to claim that the Bible is a book owned by the Catholic Church, is another blatant stupid claim. The official name of the Catholic Church which was only formulated in the late 19th century is, “The Holy Roman Catholic Apostolic Church”.

Why was the original Bible not written in the language of Rome but instead in Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic which were never the official language of the Roman Catholic Church? The answer is inevitable: the Bible is not a book owned and written by Roman Catholics! It will be a pity to all Bible-believing people if Roman Catholics were the ones who wrote it!

Sins are purged not in the afterlife but here on earth!

The word used by Paul in his writing to the Hebrews, in the Greek Scriptures is καθαρισμός.

HEBREWS 1:3
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

καθαρισμός

katharismos (kath-ar-is-mos’)

From G2511; a washing off, that is, (ceremonially) ablution, (morally) expiation: – cleansing, + purge, purification, (-fying).

The Hebrew synonym (because he was writing to the Hebrews) is כּפר

kâphar (kaw-far’)

primitive root; to cover (specifically with bitumen); figuratively to expiate or condone, to placate or cancel: – appease, make (an) atonement, cleanse, disannul, forgive, be merciful, pacify, pardon, to pitch, purge (away), put off, (make) reconcile (-liation).

* (Strong’s Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries, Dictionaries of Hebrew and Greek Words taken from Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance by James Strong, S.T.D., LL.D., 1890.)

Whether in Hebrew or in Greek, the phrase, purge our sins, translated in Latin as “purgationem peccatorum” means an act of atonement, the cleansing or ablution of sins, not a place which the Catholics were made to believe as “purgatory”.

HEBREWS 1:3
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Before sitting on the right hand of the Majesty on High, “when He had by himself purged our sins,” means, that the purging was done while He was still on earth.

The earth is our home in this age, and the world to come will be our home in eternity.

Our home in this present age is:

THE ACTS 17:26
And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

Our home in eternity will be:

JOHN 14:1-3
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

REVELATION 21:1-2
1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Our earth or our home in this present age is the right place for the purging of our sins. This is the very reason why He came to this earth!

MATTHEW 1:21
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

How did He purge the sins of His people? By offering His body as a ransom for our sins.

HEBREWS 10:12
But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God;

HEBREWS 10:10
By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Being baptized as the Lord Jesus commanded is the way for us to be covered by the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus.

THE ACTS 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

THE ROMANS 6:4, 6
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

The purging of our sins must be done in this life on earth for us to be prepared to enter the abode of God and the Lord Jesus.

ECCLESIASTES 9:10
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

REVELATION 21:22, 27
22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

Souls of God’s servants rest in God’s domain and are not being purged in purgatory!

Will there be a stopover in purgatory? NONE! Why? Because there is no purgatory!

Easily Angered? Let God Intervene In Your Heart

10/20/2018 19 Comments

Biblical Advice for the Easily Angered

Bro. Eli,

I would like to ask how I can eliminate my attitude of being so furious and angry immediately whenever I encounter some difficulties. Kindly help me, I know my actions are not acceptable but I can’t help it since I was a child.

From: Restlyn

Email: Angeleight_5@yahoo.com

Dear Restlyn,

No man can attain renewal by himself alone.

JEREMIAH 10:23
O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

You will need the intervention of the Lord to be renewed from evil things you are accustomed to do.

JEREMIAH 13:23
Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.

By himself, a black Ethiopian can not change the natural color of his or her skin, nor can a leopard remove its spot. It is only through God’s power that a person can attain renewal.

PROVERBS 16:9
A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

Pray for God’s guidance and power to intervene in your person, especially in your heart. It is divinely possible.

EZEKIEL 36:26
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.

Enrich your heart with unfeigned love and hatred and anger will be gone away.

PROVERBS 22:24-25
24 Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:
25 Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.

Follow Christ and you will be renewed.

2 CORINTHIANS 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

May God be merciful on you!

Was Peter Really the Rock?

10/13/2018 15 Comments

Peter was no Catholic Pope

This has been the topic of so many discussions in the long history of the Catholic Church. The authorities of the Catholic Church from the pope to the clergy claim that they derived their power from the Apostle Peter, allegedly the first pope and the successor of Christ in the overall administration of the Christian Church. They based their claim on what is recorded in the Gospel of Matthew.

MATTHEW 16:18-19 (Douay-Rheims Version)
18 And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 And I will give to thee the keys of the bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven.

Their claim and explanation about these verses is printed hereunder from the Modern Catholic Dictionary.

The claim that Peter was the first pope and the rock whereupon the church was built is erroneous and can not be substantiated, either by history or by the Bible. The word pope was first used by an alleged saint, Saint Ennodius, in the year 521, according to the Catholic Encyclopedia. (Photocopied below)

And also, from the Modern Catholic Dictionary, it states:

How can Peter be a pope when such title was first used 400 years after the death of Peter?

Biblically, Peter can not be a pope! It was prohibited by Christ to the original twelve disciples to be called ‘rabbi’ or teacher because their only teacher was Jesus Christ.

MATTHEW 23:8
But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brethren.

They were also forbidden to address anybody on earth their father because, religiously speaking, they have only one Father, which is the Father in heaven.

MATTHEW 23:9
And call none your father upon earth; for one is your father, who is in heaven.

Peter would definitely not allow anybody to call him pope because that word means Father, according to the Catholic Encyclopedia cited afore.

So, we can safely conclude that Peter did not ever hold the position of papacy, biblically and historically, according to the Bible, and to official documents from the Catholic Church itself.

But was he the rock upon which the Church was built?

Peter, an Apostle first to be called, is part of the Church.

1 CORINTHIANS 12:28
And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

He is not the rock or the foundation, but was only among those who were founded upon the real rock or ‘petra’, or foundation.

πέτρα

petra

pet’-ra

Feminine of the same as G4074; a (mass of) rock (literally or figuratively): – rock.

Strong’s Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries

Dictionaries of Hebrew and Greek Words taken from Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance by James Strong, S.T.D., LL.D., 1890.

Note that the Church was founded on a ‘petra’ — in the feminine gender, and not on a ‘petros’ (a stone), the name ascribed to Peter.

JOHN 1:42
And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.

It was not only Peter that was called a stone, because Peter himself called the members of the first century Church as “lively stones.”

1 PETER 2:5
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

Members of the first century Church were called by Peter as ‘lively stones’ or ‘lithos’ in the original Greek tongue.

λίθος

lithos

Thayer Definition:

1) a stone

1a) of small stones

1b) of building stones

1c) metaphorically of Christ

Peter, the other apostles, and the members, altogether formed the edifice founded on the rock or ‘petra’.

MATTHEW 16:18
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

The rock mentioned is ‘petra’ and not ‘petros’.

EPHESIANS 2:20
And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone…

Note that the apostles (including Peter) and prophets are built upon the foundation (they are not the foundation); the chief cornerstone is Jesus Christ our Lord.

Is there anybody else qualified to be the foundation of the true Church in the Bible?

1 CORINTHIANS 3:11
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Anybody who will build a church, and make Peter or any other man its foundation is rejecting Christ, and is building it in vain. Peter said:

ACTS 4:10-12 (Douay-Rheims Version)
10 Be it known to you all and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God hath raised from the dead, even by him, this man standeth here before you, whole.
11 This is the stone which was rejected by you the builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other. For there is no other name under heaven given to men, whereby we must be saved.

The house or the building founded or built upon the ‘petra’ or the foundation rock (which is Christ), is the Church of God.

1 TIMOTHY 3:15
But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

God built it upon Christ — the real foundation.

HEBREWS 3:4
For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.

PSALMS 127:1
Except the LORD build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

To Kay, I hope you will consider these things in your search for the truth.

God Bless.

An Epoch of Fraud and Deceit

10/04/2018 14 Comments

Attain salvation in times of fraud and deceit

Whenever I hear somebody speaking in the name of God (regardless of whichever god he speaks of), my attention will surely be captured; all ears and with gusto, I will listen to him meticulously. This has been my attitude since I got hold of the Bible.

1 JOHN 4:1
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

The Bible also pushed me to be investigative of other books used as religious textbooks of different religious groups that now exist.

1 THESSALONIANS 5:21-22
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

I have traveled to different places, I have come across heaps of documents; and was forced to spend time studying a little bit of science, history, culture, and traditions of the world’s great religions. In all these, there is that strange feeling in me which I do not understand. While I am reading a particular religious book, which I wanted to digest, there is that feeling of boredom which I never experience in reading the Bible. Nevertheless, my search for truth and justice obliges me to do so.

HEBREWS 10:36, 38
36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise…
38 …Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

God is not pleased with anyone who started a good work, but drew back. Wisdom and understanding are promised to anyone who does the pleasure of the Lord.

ECCLESIASTES 2:26 (RSV)
For to the man who pleases him God gives wisdom and knowledge and joy; but to the sinner he gives the work of gathering and heaping, only to give to one who pleases God. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.

From left to right: Brother Eliseo Soriano, with the former President of the Republic of the Philippines, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, when the latter visited one of the Thanksgiving ceremonies of the Members of the Church of God, International or MCGI (which is presided by Bro. Eli) in Apalit, Pampanga to talk to its hundreds of thousands members. Beside GMA is MCGI’s Vice-Presiding Minister and host of the newest and most talked about morning show “Good Morning Kuya”, Brother Daniel Razon. Beside him is Presidential Adviser for Religious Affairs, Mr. Dodi Limcauco.

Brother Eliseo Soriano shaking hands with Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago. In the middle is the former President of the Republic of the Philippines, Joseph Ejercito Estrada. This photo was taken when the two politicians visited Brother Eli to ask for his support for the then upcoming elections.

In the performance of my duty, I have met almost all kinds of people — believers and non-believers. I have felt the love and compassion of Godly people, and the hatred of the unbelieving. I had been stoned so many times. I had been beaten by five goons after a public debate. I had been held in prison for ten hours for a charge I am totally innocent of (God is my witness). I had escaped a mob by traveling at the speed of 180 km/hr to save my comrades and myself from their cruelty. I was reminded of the fate of the Apostle Paul.

2 CORINTHIANS 11:25
Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep…

In my preaching sessions, I got the privilege to meet the rich, the educated, the poor, and the illiterate, and even the sick (mentally and physically).

1 CORINTHIANS 9:20-22
20 And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;
21 To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.
22 To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.

Some ask for prayers and many for healing; but I am not like Benny Hinn, Jimmy Swaggart, Morris Cerullo, Jim Bakker, and the likes, that promise healing but only choose the kind of people they are going to heal. I, oftentimes, advise the sick to pray, turn to spiritual and natural (fasting and nutritional healing) method; and to use homeopathic and alternative therapies, even, sometimes, urine therapy. I seldom recommend them to see conventional doctors using conventional medicine.

From all these experiences, as well as from those people I had listened to, and the books I had read, I realized that fraud and deceit abound everywhere mostly from preachers, priests, ministers, lawyers, judges, magistrates, and even medical doctors. This is what I have discovered from the truth in the Bible.

REVELATION 12:9
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

JOB 9:24
The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of the judges thereof; if not, where, and who is he?

These times we live in is described in the Bible as the end times.

DANIEL 12:4
But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

Never in the history of mankind did man see the increase of knowledge in technology and science than what we are witnessing now. We are sure from the reality of what we see that we are living in the end times. A collateral prophecy is unfolding before our very eyes.

DANIEL 12:9-10
9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

Wickedness will surely abound at the end times, and will grow worse!

2 TIMOTHY 3:13
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

Imagine, a deceiver being deceived! The prophecy is concise. The word of God tells us the truth. It will reveal to us the camouflaged lies, deceit and fraud in this particular epoch of human history.

My curious readers may ask me: Fraud? Deceit? Even with medical doctors and judges?

These men are educated men. Men of wisdom and knowledge. Must their wisdom be doubted?

1 CORINTHIANS 2:6-8
6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to naught:
7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

The Bible tells us so!

Deceit and fraud is not a thing of make believe among lawyers, judges and magistrates!

I invite you to travel with me in time with all the people I had met and with all the books I had read on my next article and decide for yourself if my conclusion is true.

In Christ,

Bro. Eli Soriano

Fair Biblical Fora

This is a comment posted by a reader:

Yeah dude that’s cool keep it up. You’re the most sensible I have read so far — Quite interesting blogs — Very knowledgeable and prudent. Other Christian (?) blogs offer their own way of biblical understandings and explanations but your blog contains the most explained about religious issues and controversies after all, you’ve based all your explanations on the bible — Quite good huh. May I suggest that you create a biblical forum consist of leaders of other religious denominations like your old program in the Philippine radio (This is Manolo and his Genius Family Special ) may I suggest a name FORA BIBLICA. (I just construct it from a health program I used to watch FORA MEDICA) hope to read your future blogs and I would like to commend you for doing a job very well done.

P.S.

Praise your God!!!

From: LetUsReason

Dear LetUsReason,

Your reply to my blog entitled “The Power that Drives Me” caught my attention while I was very busy preparing for a “Bible Exposition” in Northern Luzon, Philippines. I am a very busy person; Sometimes, not physically, but mentally.

ROMANS 7:25
I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

If I am not the first person whose mind is very busy, I can certainly feel I am not the last. The Apostle Paul experienced the same thing.

PHILIPPIANS 2:20
For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.

Thinking of what to teach to our congregation and to those outside (the congregation) definitely does not tire me. I believe in the promise of the Lord that He will give the teachings at the perfect time they are needed by His people.

LUKE 21:13-15
13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:
15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

Irrefutable teachings from the Bible come to my mind very easily. I believe it is God’s working that His truth is revealed to me even if I am not thinking of it. These are revelations meant by God for His people.

1 PETER 1:12 (ASV)
To whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto you, did they minister these things, which now have been announced unto you through them that preached the gospel unto you by the Holy Spirit sent forth from heaven; which things angel desire to look into.

I do not just say this, but this has been experienced by thousands upon thousands of people who come to our “Bible Expositions” asking all kinds of questions, being answered directly from the verses of the Bible.

Brother Eli Soriano in one of his ‘Bible Expositions’ where he answers people’s questions
regarding salvation taking it directly from the Bible.

Although I am presently very busy, I welcome your suggestion with an open mind and heart; if there will be a forum of religious preachers and leaders, who will come together in order to discuss issues regarding faith and religion. Please register my name in that forum at once. If you want to spearhead such a forum, you have all my backing up (of course, mine is very little; but the backing up of the Bible means everything).

ISAIAH 43:9
Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and show us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth.

The gathering of people of all nations may not be physically possible now; but I believe it is very much possible through the internet. We can, by this technology, organize Bible-centered forums where people could witness who among the representatives of different faiths and religions declare God’s former things and the TRUTH.

I believe the internet is now the most civilized avenue for people to argue because, through this technology, there is no chance that anybody would be harmed by the ill-tempered and the hypocrites who claim that they are of God.

TITUS 1:16
They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

Just very recently, a discussion between two groups who both claim that they are the only people of God (but I believe they are both of satan) clashed violently against each other (see reference below). In the internet, this will not happen.

One of our ministers experienced the same thing with these people; but our group did not go down to their level (see video below).

God wants us to reason out together to see the real and the whole picture of the truth, but without violence.

ISAIAH 1:18
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

To reason out together with the intent of knowing the truth and finding atonement for sins is something Godly. Discussions that end up violently harming people, especially the innocent, is satanic.

JOHN 8:40, 44
40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham…
44 …Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Christ said this when the Jews tried to kill Him during one of His argumentations against them. To argue and to reason out with people in search for the ‘Divine Truth’ regarding salvation is a Godly intent in the heart of a true preacher of God.

ACTS 9:22, 29
22 But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ…
29 …And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him.

Even the Supreme Court of the Philippines has upheld in its doctrines and jurisprudence the constitutional right of the people to discuss and argue about pertinent issues of faith (see reference below).

 ————

IGLESIA NI CRISTO (INC.), petitioner, vs. THE HONORABLE COURT OF APPEALS, BOARD OF REVIEW FOR MOTION PICTURES AND TELEVISION and HONORABLE HENRIETTA S. MENDEZ, respondents.

The respondent Board may disagree with the criticisms of other religions by petitioner but that gives it no excuse to interdict such criticisms, however, unclean they may be. Under our constitutional scheme, it is not the task of the State to favor any religion by protecting it against an attack by another religion. Religious dogmas and beliefs are often at war and to preserve peace among their followers, especially the fanatics, the establishment clause of freedom of religion prohibits the State from leaning towards any religion. Vis-a-vis religious differences, the State enjoys no banquet of options. Neutrality alone is its fixed and immovable stance. In fine, respondent board cannot squelch the speech of petitioner Iglesia ni Cristo simply because it attacks other religions, even if said religion happens to be the most numerous church in our country. In a State where there ought to be no difference between the appearance and the reality of freedom of religion, the remedy against bad theology is better theology. The bedrock of freedom of religion is freedom of thought and it is best served by encouraging the marketplace of dueling ideas. When the luxury of time permits, the marketplace of ideas demands that speech should be met by more speech for it is the spark of opposite speech, the heat of colliding ideas that can fan the embers of truth.

————

Sad to say, we do not anymore enjoy this right as a group. The Chairman (La Guardia) of the Movie and Television Review and Classifications Board (MTRCB), under the office of the President of the Philippines and the Kapisan ng mga Broadkaster sa Pilipinas (KBP) had prohibited us mentioning or criticizing the wrong teachings and abuses of other religious groups while we are being freely maligned by them in almost every medium of communication.

It will be a very fair forum if we can use the internet to discuss matters of faith in biblical fora. To your suggestion, I say Amen! God bless you.

Sincerely in Christ,

Bro. Eli Soriano

A question from an atheist: Why would Jesus want you to eat His body and drink His blood?

9/22/2018 14 Comments

The spiritual meaning of eating the body and drinking the blood of Christ

Now we know by this question, that these imaginary people are living in their idiotic world understanding only their language of ignorance and impertinence. They speak of hypocrisy and lies like their adopted father.

JOHN 8:44
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

The Lord Jesus said to His disciples:

JOHN 6:51-54
51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

The commandment says: “Eat the bread which came down from heaven”, that is His body. Does it sound cannibalistic?

He further emphasized that that bread is His flesh. When the disciples did not understand what He meant, He explained that He is speaking of spiritual things.

JOHN 6:60-63
60 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, this is a hard saying; who can hear it?
61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, doth this offend you?
62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

The flesh of Jesus or His body is the manifestation of all perfection and holiness attainable by any human being that believes. Eating it spiritually means receiving the glory in it so that it can also be present in your person.

JOHN 1:14
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

The grace and the truth that is in the ‘corporeal’ body of Christ, if eaten or received, can be transferred or reflected in the person of a believer.

ROMANS 8:29
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Jesus is an example to follow. He is the role model to every Christian.

1 PETER 2:21
For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps…

These imaginary people live in a world of seclusion: having a kind of language deprived of figures of speech, idiomatic expressions, and above all, spirituality. If they hear you say, “Eat crow”, then they will say, “I am not eating crow”. If you say, “I’ll eat my hat”, then they will laugh at you, and presume that you are extremely hungry, because you will “eat your hat”.

It sounds stupid, isn’t it?

But an intelligent and educated Christian knows the language of the Bible and the spiritual things that it teaches.

PROVERBS 8:8-9
8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.
9 They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.

In the Book of Revelation, John, the disciple, was commanded to eat a scroll or a book.

REVELATION 10:9-10
9 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.
10 And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.

It was an angel who told John to “eat the book”, and John was in the spirit that day.

REVELATION 1:10
I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet…

These verses speak of spiritual things that sound foolish to the ungodly.

1 CORINTHIANS 2:14 (RSV)
The unspiritual man does not receive the gifts of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.

Linguists use the phrase “digest the book”.

(e.i) “Reading is important for personal and professional development. If you want to grow your knowledge, you have to read. Reading is a tip of the iceberg though, digesting the information is the bigger piece on the block of ice. Here is something that is useful – George Ambler introduces a process to read and digest a book…”

Source (2007): http://www.lifehack.org/articles/lifehack/how-to-read-and-digest-a-book.html

To digest a book means to absorb mentally the information in it. When the angel said to John, “eat the book”, it biblically and spiritually means that John must absorb the knowledge written in it. These wise words of the angel to John will surely be misinterpreted by these imaginary people! DO NOT TELL THEM TO EAT THEIR HEART OUT. They will surely be cannibals.

I do not want to claim to have read and digested the entire Bible, but the things I had, so far, read and digested had brought me to the conclusion that the Bible is a wonderful book; unparalleled in wisdom, understanding, and precise informations in science, history and morals, that can not rationally be refuted by the wisest man on earth.

I dedicate the following poem with an unknown author to my dear readers.

Yes I thought I knew my Bible

Reading piecemeal, hit or miss

Now a part of John or Matthew

Then a bit of Genesis

Certain chapters of Isaiah

Certain psalms, the twenty-third

First of Proverbs, twelfth of Romans

Yes, I thought I knew the Word.

But I found that thorough reading

Was a different thing to do

And the way was unfamiliar

When I read my Bible through

You who like to play at Bible

Dip and dabble here there

Just before you kneel all weary

Yawning through a hurried prayer.

You who treat this crown of writings

As you treat no other book

Just a paragraph disjointed

Just a crude impatient look.

Try a worthier procedure

Try a broad and steady view;

You will kneel in awesome wonder

When you read the Bible through.

God bless.

The Covenant on the Fleshy Tables of the Heart

9/15/2018 16 Comments

Covenant written in the heart

I would like to give way to an email addressed to me by a Seventh Day Adventist pastor who commented on my articles regarding the SDAC’s teachings, particularly the article entitled “The Faulty Covenant of the Seventh Day Adventist Church”. The email states:

Dear Eli:

First, my deepest apologies for Seventh Day Adventist’s that come across very rude. The Internet is a medium that can be taken the wrong way very easily and some are not as adept as they ought to be, perhaps, in expressing themselves in a way that one can discern the tenor and tone of the writer. I was interested in your post and am not sure how you got this email, but I thought I would take a few moments to respond.

Yes, the first covenant was faulty and was discontinued at the cross of Christ. But the question is “what is the first covenant?” If it was the Ten Commandments then those are done away with at the cross, but if it wasn’t then they are still enforce. A covenant, as I am sure you are well aware of, is an agreement between two or more parties. The agreement called the Old Covenant was God stating that the children of Israel would obey His voice (Read Exodus 19-24) and the people said (three times) “all the Lord said we will do” and the final declaration they added “and be obedient.” Moses took the blood of sacrifice and ratified (put into effect) that agreement. The Ten Commandments were the basis, the parameters, of the agreement, not the agreement itself. Thus, the Ten Commandments were not done away with when the old covenant was nullified.

Note what you highlighted so well in your quote of Hebrews, which comes from Jeremiah 31:31-34. God said that He would do something in this new covenant that does away with the idea that the Ten Commandments were done away with at the cross. God Himself states that He would “put My laws in their minds and write them on their hearts.” Far from the law being done away with. It is rather inscribed upon His peoples hearts. Thus, the ten commandments are not done away with. We know this, too, by the very fact that in the book of Revelation we are given two glimpses of the law in chapters 11 and 15 and that it is in heaven right now.

So, when you say that no one is sanctified by the old covenant you are correct. But Seventh-day Adventists are not under the old covenant. They are under the new like all true converted/transformed believers in Jesus Christ. They are not saved by their works. They are not saved by their obedience to the law of God, but they are empowered by God through His Spirit with His law written on their hearts to live for Him. Thus, a converted believer is following God out of a heart of love, trusting in the merits and mercies of Jesus Christ for the basis and sum of their salvation.

Since Adventists love God they seek to follow Him in all that He has spoken and one of those commandments that they joyfully obey is the fourth about keeping the seventh day holy. But obeying that commandment is no more a works trip than say, refraining from committing adultery either physically or in their heart, or by their refraining from stealing, etc and so forth. Their obedience is prompted by love for God and is simply the fruit evidence of their converted state.

True, some SDA’s are relying on their works for acceptance to God, but they are mistaken. But Adventism does not espouse or teach that one is saved by their obedience, but solely through the merits of Jesus Christ and they also teach that there is no such thing as cheap grace. God does not forgive only to allow us to go on sinning, breaking His commandments because they are “no longer under the old covenant.”

The new covenant involves the new heart. Ezekiel 36:25-27 says that God promises a new heart and His Spirit to enable us to keep His will, or His law. Adventists believe this and seek to do so by God’s grace.

I hope that this aids this very important and needed dialogue and the Lord bless you. In His Service and at yours,

Pastor Kevin James

Dear Pastor Kevin James,

While you admit that the first covenant was faulty, and had discontinued at the cross of Christ, you claim that it was not the Ten Commandments. But a closer look at the following verses of Colossians 2:14, we will find out the inevitable conclusion that what was done away was the Ten Commandments with its statutes and judgment.

COLOSSIANS 2:14-17
14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Note that Christians can not be judged after the blotting out of the ordinances regarding meats, drinks, holy days, and Sabbaths: which are a shadow of the real thing —which is Christ. Christ is the Sabbath for Christians!

There is no doubt that the first covenant is the covenant written on two tables of stones.

DEUTERONOMY 4:13
And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.

It is also called as the “Law of Moses”, which contained statutes and judgments.

MALACHI 4:4
Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.

Which is this Law of Moses that contains statutes and judgment? Those that were commanded by God unto Moses in Horeb for all Israel. Which are these?

DEUTERONOMY 5:1-22
1 And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them.
2 The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
3 The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.
4 The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire,
5 (I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to show you the word of the LORD: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying,
6 I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
7 (1) Thou shalt have none other gods before me.
8 (2) Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:
9 Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,
10 And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.
11 (3) Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
12 (4) Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.
13 Six days thou shalt labor, and do all thy work:
14 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.
15 And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.
16 (5) Honor thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
17 (6) Thou shalt not kill.
18 (7) Neither shalt thou commit adultery.
19 (8) Neither shalt thou steal.
20 (9) Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbor.
21 (10) Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbor’s wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbor’s house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is thy neighbor’s.
22 These words the LORD spoke unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.

I intentionally highlighted in red, and numbered the commandments for your convenience and understanding, that the covenant made in Horeb between God and His people Israel, is the Ten Commandments, which He wrote on two tables of stone, which is also called the Law of Moses.

MALACHI 4:4
Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.

This first covenant was intended for a nation — for Israel. The next covenant He promised He is going to make for the people of Israel will not only be for Israel, but also for the Gentiles, and He will write it not on tables of stones, but on ‘fleshy tables of the heart’.

HEBREWS 8:10
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people…

This is called the New Covenant.

2 CORINTHIANS 3:6, 3
6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life…
3 …Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

The letters that killeth being mentioned by Paul are the letters of the first covenant or testament, which are the Laws of Moses or the Ten Commandments!

HEBREWS 10:28
He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses…

The New Covenant, as promised, will be written on hearts, thus, giving a chance of justification, even to those who have not heard the law — the Gentiles.

ROMANS 2:11-15
11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
15 Which show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another)

By the doing away of the first covenant, and enforcing the New Covenant, Christ made the reconciliation between Jews and non-Jews: making in Himself of twain a new man, one body or the Church.

EPHESIANS 2:14-16
14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby…

Jews and Gentiles were reconciled to God by what Christ had done on the cross.

COLOSSIANS 2:14-16
14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days…

What is the New Covenant? It was not the one given on the mount, but which came from Jerusalem above.

GALATIANS 4:22-26
22 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.
23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.
24 Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which engendereth to bondage, which is Hagar.
25 For this Hagar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.
26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

The mother of all Christians is the covenant which came from above, from Jerusalem above, containing the Laws of Christ, and is meant for the whole world.

ACTS 1:2, 8
2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen…
8 …But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

GALATIANS 6:2
Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

MATTHEW 28:20
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

The New Covenant is the gospel, the Law of Christ which He commanded to be observed until the end of the world.

LUKE 16:16 (American Standard Version)
The law and the prophets were until John: from that time the gospel of the kingdom of God is preached, and every man entereth violently into it.

The efficacy of the Law of Moses was until John, and then follows the gospel which is the New Covenant.

MARK 1:14-15
14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

My dear brother Kevin James, may you find enlightenment within the verses that I have cited.

The first covenant was given in Horeb, and it was the Ten Commandments, with the statutes and judgment.

I pray for your enlightenment and all Seventh Day Adventists.

May God bless you.
