If I Were A Senator

A senator in my country formulates and proposes laws to be implemented by the executive department of the government.

If I were a senator, I would turn to the Bible in formulating laws for the amelioration of my poor and depressed countrymen. The first law I would propose is for the provision of free access to all media for all candidates in an elective position in government.

Why?

Let me explain this in detail.

Corruption is the main cause of poverty in my country, which was formerly considered one of the richest countries in Southeast Asia. In fact, the Philippines is the first country in that part of the world to have its own airline.

Philippine Airlines is the national airline of the Philippines. It is the first commercial airline in Asia and the oldest of those currently in operation. With its corporate headquarters in Makati City, Philippine Airlines flies both domestic and international flights. As of December 2006, it claims to serve twenty-one domestic airports and thirty-two foreign cities. Its main hub is Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport in the city of Parañaque with all its passenger flights involving Manila in Centennial Terminal 2. It has been awarded a 3-star rating by Skytrax. (Source: Wikipedia)

The Philippines was the largest producer of rice, coconut, and copra in that region, and was the number one supplier of sugar in the US sometime in the past. From being a rich country, the Philippines is now internationally tagged as a country of domestic helpers. Seventy percent of our people are living below the poverty line. These are all because of corruption!

From being exporter to importer of grains:

Twenty years ago, the Philippines was a net exporter of rice grains. During the Marcos administration, the country was still able to export a portion of its total produce while leaving the country with sufficient supply. (Source: Bulatlat.com)

Negros Revised: The impact of sugar substitution by HFCS in perspective

Although in the early 1980s the Philippines belonged to the top four world exporters of raw sugar, the country currently is not mentioned among the top ten. Before the crisis, the Philippine sugar industry was responsible for 8 per cent of the Country's total foreign exchange earnings. This percentage decreased to 1.4 per cent in 1984. Corruption starts at election.

Before a scheduled election during the campaign period, a candidate or a politician seeks the help of people to pay for airtime on radio and television and spaces in print media. Persons, juridical or individual, with criminal minds, begin to influence the would-be official if elected. Some look at this as an investment for “monkey business.”

Even religious groups are participants in this malicious and vicious cycle of corruption. Once elected, the official is expected to pay back the favor given in the form of cash or material considerations, or operations that advance one’s power.

The last includes influencing the members of a religious group to vote for the candidate in what is infamously called “bloc voting.” This, in turn, influences the elected official in matters of appointments and contracts which will benefit the religious group or its leaders. Imagine doing business with government without even the benefit of public bidding and a written contract! This is very much like what surfaced in LTO (Land Transportation Office).

Driver’s license printer has no contract with LTO
By Neal Cruz | Philippine Daily Inquirer | 09/23/2010

Transportation Secretary Jose “Ping” de Jesus did right in canceling the bidding, scheduled for today, for the production of new drivers’ licenses. The fact alone that the Land Transportation Office (LTO) seems in a hurry to bid out the project (to favored bidders, according to critics) is a giveaway.

There are many mysteries going on at the LTO and De Jesus should look closely into its affairs. For one, it appears that the LTO is the private preserve of the Iglesia ni Cristo. Most contracts are awarded by the LTO to members of the INC. In fact, the present LTO chief, Assistant Transportation Secretary Virgie Torres, is a well-known INC member. The owner of the present printer of drivers’ licenses, Amalgamated Motors Inc. (Ampi), is Filemon Cuevas, a senior member of the INC.

By virtue of this bloc-voting practice, an influential religious leader may call upon a sitting president (by phone) to influence the decision of a magistrate or a judge either to dismiss or to judge on a case in favor of them and to the detriment of an innocent litigant.

EXODUS 23:8
And thou shalt take no gift: for the gift blindeth the wise, and perverteth the words of the righteous.

Many more forms and consequences of corruption follow. The result? According to a survey titled, “THE MOST CORRUPT GOVERNMENT AND PRESIDENT IN ASIA.”

GMA (Gloria Macapagal Arroyo) found most corrupt president
Palace says media is to blame for survey results
By Regina Bengco | Malaya | 12/12/2007

Almost one of two Filipinos believe that the President is the “most corrupt (president) in the history of the Philippines,” a survey conducted from Oct. 20 to 31 by Pulse Asia showed… (Source: EllenTordesillas.com)

Making a law to give free airtime and spaces for a politician to present his platform of government to the public may reduce, if not eradicate, this root of corruption.

Television and radio stations earn in every sort of commercials. It can be considered as truly a public service -- which is their “advertised advocacy” -- if they would give candidates ample time to discuss issues and debate on them freely, for the public to have a better choice of officials. In fact, it is the constitutional right of the populace “to know.” Minimize the expenses of a candidate and we are going to minimize also the ROI (return on investment) and the haste of greedy investors in an election!

Salvation Outside the True Church (Part 2 of 2)

Read the first part of the blog here.

We always welcome comments knowing that some will be favorable to us and others will be against us but still favorable to us! The truth will always have its enemy.

THE ACTS 13:10
And said, O full of all subtlety and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

The cohorts of the devil will even use lies to attempt to destroy the indestructible truth of God!

MATTHEW 5:11
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

But the truth, in whatever angle you look at it, will be the truth!

JOHN 17:17
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

The truth is fact! And here are the following facts. Let us look at things the biblically mathematical way, the biblically logical way, and the biblically sensible way that can be understood by the wise and the biblically prudent people!

I CORINTHIANS 10:15
I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.

DANIEL 12:10
Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

The facts are:

1. The Lord Jesus built a church.

MATTHEW 16:18
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

2. It is not His own church that He built.

HEBREWS 3:4
For every house is builded by some man; but He that built all things is God.

3. He is talking and acting according to the instruction of the real builder and owner of the church which is God.

JOHN 12:49
For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

JOHN 5:19 (RSV)
Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what He sees the Father doing; for whatever He does, that the Son does likewise.

JOHN 14:10
Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

4. The church built by the Father through Christ is the Church of God.

II CORINTHIANS 1:1
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia:

I TIMOTHY 3:15
But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

5. The true church first existed in Jerusalem and the nearby areas of the Holy land.

ACTS 8:1
And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.

6. Jerusalem is the designated starting point of the preaching of the church and salvation, and not Rome.

LUKE 24:47
And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

7. The Lord Jesus can see the hearts of all people even beyond the boundaries of the Holy land.

JOHN 2:24-25
24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,
25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

8. The Lord Jesus knows that there are people considered as His sheep outside of the church, both within Jerusalem and beyond.

JOHN 10:16
And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

ACTS 26:17-18
17 Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,
18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

9. Not all people, especially the Gentiles, will hear the teachings and the law of Christ before they die, but will be justified. These certainly are not members of the true church, but because they have done the good things of the law, they will be saved come judgment day!

THE ROMANS 2:13-14
13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:

MATTHEW 25:32-40
32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand,
Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was hungry, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

These are not brethren in the church, but considered as sheep (those at the right hand) and have done good to the brethren of Christ in the church. The sheep in the fold and those “other sheep” which are not of the fold will be brought by Christ and they all will have one shepherd.

JOHN 10:16, 3
16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

The one shepherd mentioned is not anybody but Christ, the Lamb that will shepherd all those that will be saved.

REVELATION 7:17
For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water; and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.

Manalo has no pinch of capability to shepherd all the sheep of the Lord, even to call them by name; for no human can remember all the names of all those that will be saved, save the Lord Jesus who knows all men!

JOHN 2:24-25
24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,
25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

REVELATION 7:9, 13-14, 17 (RSV)
9 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no man could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands,
13 Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, clothed in white robes, and whence have they come?”
14 I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water; and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

10. The present population of the world can still be numbered.

The world hit its 7 billion population mark on October 31, 2011 according to the United Nations. (Read more here: As world passes 7 billion milestone, UN urges action to meet key challenges)

US and World Population on February 20, 2016 according to the US Government Census website.

World population has doubled in 40 years from 1959 (3 billion) to 1999 (6 billion)

It is currently growing at a rate of around 1.15 % per year. (2011 statistics)

Growth rate reached its peak in the late 1960s, when it was at 2%.

Growth rate is currently declining and is projected to continue to decline in the coming years. (2011 statistics)

Average annual population change is currently estimated at over 77 million. (2011 statistics)

World population will nearly stabilize at just above 10 billion persons after 2200.

A tremendous change occurred with the industrial revolution: whereas it had taken all of human history up to the year 1800 for world population to reach 1 billion, the second billion was achieved in only 130 years (1930), the third billion in less than 30 years (1959), the fourth billion in 15 years (1974), the fifth billion in 13 years (1987), the sixth billion in 12 years (1999) and the seventh billion in 12 years (2011). During the 20th century alone, the population in the world has grown from 1.65 billion to 6 billion.

Those sheep that will be saved cannot be counted by any human.

REVELATION 7:9
After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no man could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands,

No established religion has reached this proportion of membership! Meanwhile, the members of the Catholic Church can easily be counted by an ordinary man with the aid of the computer! Even all the great religions of the world (great in number but not in any manner of truth and sanctity) can claim an innumerable membership, to wisely conclude, (except for insanity) that outside of their church there is no salvation!

See the logic?

Just me, but sincerely yours,

Bro. Eli

Salvation Outside the True Church (Part 1 of 2)

Most of the religions established by man teach that outside their religion there is no salvation. Here are some of them with their documented claims:

CATHOLICISM

LA SALVACION DE LOS NO-CATOLICOS

CARTA DE LA SAGRADA CONGREGACION DEL SANTO OFICIO AL ARZOBISPO DE

BOSTON (MASSACHUSETTS, USA), DE FECHA 8 DE AGOSTO DE 1949.

CONTROVERSIA QUE SURGIO EN EL COLEGIO DE BOSTON SOBRE EL AXIOMA

QUE DICE: “FUERA DE LA IGLESIA CATOLICA NO HAY SALVACION”.

UNAM SANCTAM

Bull of Pope Boniface VIII promulgated

November 18, 1302

outside Catholic Church no one will be saved

MORMONISM

Mormon scriptures claim that the LDS church is “the only true and living church upon the face of the whole earth,” according to Joseph Smith. (Doctrine and Covenants, 1:30).

President Ezra Taft Benson said: “This is not just another Church. This is not just one of a family of Christian churches. This is the Church and kingdom of God, the only true Church upon the face of the earth…” (Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson, p.164-165).

Bruce McConkie stated: If it had not been for Joseph Smith and the restoration, there would be no salvation. There is no salvation outside The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints” (Mormon Doctrine, p.670).

JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES

You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth (p.255): “…there will only be one organization—God’s visible organization—that will survive the fast-approaching “great tribulation.” It is simply not true that all religions lead to the same goal. You must be part of Jehovah’s organization, doing God’s will, in order to receive his blessing of everlasting life.

IGLESIA NI CRISTO (MANALO)

outside Iglesia Ni Cristo no one will be saved

SEVENTH DAY ADVENTISM

Does the SDA church also teach that there is no salvation outside their church?

Seventh-day Adventist Church “Regardless of the pretext, or how righteous the cause may appear, separation from the visible remnant [the SDA church] is apostasy from the body of Christ.” (E.R. Bacchus, president of the Ontario Conference of SDA, Canada, in Messenger, October, 1994, p 2).

If one of these is right, then, all the others are going to hell! Or, are all of them going to hell because of their presumptuous judgment which they are giving without a bit of hesitation?

JAMES 4:12 (RSV)
There is one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you that you judge your neighbor?

It is not the belief of the only one true church in the Bible to judge those who are outside!

I CORINTHIANS 5:13 (RSV)
God judges those outside. “Drive out the wicked person from among you.”

The judgment that these religious groups are passing on to those outside of their religious caprices will be the judgment for themselves!

MATTHEW 7:2 (RSV)
For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get.

If we have to base our belief on the belief of the true church in the Bible, should we conclude that there is no salvation outside it? Primarily considering reasons and logic, salvation starts outside of the true church!

THE ACTS 26:18
To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

The first step to salvation happens outside the true church.

COLOSSIANS 1:12-14
12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Those that were redeemed or saved from the power of darkness or satan were translated into the kingdom (church) of His dear Son.

Baptism is considered to be the formal act of affiliation or being a member of the church. After baptism, a person is considered inside the church. In the first century of our common era, the Gentiles, before baptism, (still outside) received the Holy Spirit.

THE ACTS 10:45-48
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

If the Holy Spirit is one with the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ in the work of salvation, then, it is Biblical to say that the work of salvation starts outside the true church! Which is this salvation? This is salvation from sins and the power of darkness or of satan.

EPHESIANS 2:1-2, 5
1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, by (grace ye are saved;)

This is called salvation by grace without works because we are buried in sins in the power of darkness! How can we work or boast of any good work if we are dead in sins?

EPHESIANS 2:8-9
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Notice that the verb that was used in Verse 8, “for by grace are ye saved”…. is in the past participle. People in the church are saved people: Saved from sins, from the power of darkness, from the power of satan! To say that there is no salvation outside the church is gross ignorance of the Bible!

After being saved from the power of darkness and translated into the kingdom or to the church, what comes next? We are waiting for the coming of the Savior.

TITUS 2:13
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ;

As Savior, when He comes, He will be bringing salvation, other than that which was experienced by the members of the true church when they were saved from sins. This is yet another salvation, salvation from the wrath that is to come.

I THESSALONIANS 1:10 (RSV)
and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.

But if we are to examine the context of the Scriptures, must we believe that only those inside the church be the only ones to be saved from the wrath to come? Let us examine this in a profound Biblical manner.

The Lord Jesus, when He was on earth, said:

JOHN 10:16
And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

The fact is, there are sheep that are not of the fold or the church. They are not among the flock. The flock is the church.

THE ACTS 20:28
Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

“….other sheep I have, which are not of this fold….”

The Lord Jesus Christ is saying that there are sheep outside of the flock or the church, and He will save them also!

The thief in the cross was not baptized in the church, nor was numbered among the first-century Christians!

THE ACTS 2:47
Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

I CORINTHIANS 15:6
After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.

But nobody in his proper senses will deny that the Lord Jesus is going to save the thief come judgment day! Won’t this be sufficient to disprove the malicious claims and caprices of many insane religious leaders?

LUKE 23:39-43
39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.

But will the thief be just a simple exception to the rule? Are there other human beings that will be saved outside of the true church?

Wait for another Biblical revelation in the next blog to follow God willing!

Sincerely,

Bro. Eli

The Church Is Relevant to Salvation

Common sense is logical and biblical

Common sense is defined in the dictionary as sound and prudent judgment based on a simple perception of the situation or facts.

Facts:

1. The Lord Jesus Christ established a church. (Matt.16:18)

2. He taught the apostles His teachings. (Matt.28:20)

3. His teachings came from the Father (John.7:16)

4. Rejecting His teachings is rejecting Christ himself and the Father. (John.12:48)

Hence, no man in his right senses can say that the Lord Jesus Christ is non-sensible and illogical! Part of His teachings tells us that a preacher must be sensible.

I TIMOTHY 3:2 (MKJV)
Then it behooves the overseer to be without reproach, husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, well-ordered, hospitable, apt at teaching,

The Lord Jesus Christ is without doubt the most sensible preacher of all times!

1. He established a church!

MATTHEW 16:18
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Is it necessary for Jesus Christ to establish a church? Logically it is, and so He would! It follows that one is illogical if he does not accept the importance of the church. How did Christ regard the church? He loved it and gave His life for it.

EPHESIANS 5:25
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

In human terms, Christ can be said to be the Church’s better half! It will grossly be against common sense and logic if one says that the church is not important to salvation. While Jesus Christ is the Savior, He is going to save the church.

EPHESIANS 5:23
For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body.

Which is the body?

COLOSSIANS 1:18
And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

Are there illogical people who, in the absence of common sense, say that the church is not needed for salvation? Here are some of them:

A. Pat Robertson

B. Harold Camping

C. Apollo C. Quiboloy

2. The church is a part of His teachings!

The word “church” appears 76 times in the New Testament of the King James Version of the Bible, 73 times in the Revised Standard Version, 77 times in the Catholic Authorized Version or the Douay-Rheims Version, 74 times in The American Standard Version, 73 times in the Codex Sinaiticus in English Translation and 86 times in the newly translated Good News Bible of the Catholics and the Protestants.

The above statistics sustain the fact that the church is a vital teaching of Christ and the New Testament!

It is not true that the church age has ended like what Harold Camping and Apollo Quiboloy say. The church was intended by God to be the proclaimer of His wisdom until eternity.

EPHESIANS 3:10-11
10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:

At the end of this age, the church will be presented to Himself blameless.

EPHESIANS 5:27
That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Anybody therefore who says that the church age has ended is a liar!

3. The teachings of the Lord Jesus came from the Father.

JOHN 7:16
Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.

4. Rejecting the teachings of Christ is rejecting the Father! That’s the logic of it and that has biblical basis!

JOHN 13:20
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

LUKE 10:16
He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.

And most importantly: Rejecting the teachings of Christ (part of which is extensively about the church) is rejecting Christ himself.

JOHN 12:48
He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

Conclusion:

It is therefore a heap of stupidity, to say the least, that the church is not necessary for salvation!

Is there salvation outside the church established by the Lord Jesus Christ?

Watch out for this topic on the next blog, God willing!

Forever Offering Thanksgiving

Those who deny God’s existence are ingrates.  Anybody who believes not in a Supreme Being shouldn't pretend that he knows everything. But if his mind is telling him that he has not the capacity to know and understand everything that exists, then he must accept that there is a reason behind the existence of everything.  The most intelligent man who lived on earth had confessed his inability to understand everything under the sun.

ECCLESIASTES 8:17
Then I beheld all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun: because though a man labor to seek it out, yet he shall not find it; yea further; though a wise man think to know it, yet shall he not be able to find it.

Scientists believe that nothing will happen without a cause.  Although it is a principle in science, some scientists who do not believe in God ascribe to nature everything that exists.  Let us examine if there is a rationale in this.

Nature is defined by human dictionary as the original unaltered state, character and condition of everything that exists in the entire universe.  There is no definition whatsoever that ascribes to nature the creation of anything.  In nature, there are laws, there are mishaps (meaning things happening beyond the law of nature).  In nature, there are accidents like mutations, bearing of twins, triplets, and the existence of third sexes caused by the imbalance of the male and female hormones in an individual, etc.  Nature is not as consistent as it should have been since time immemorial.  But while there are mishaps and inconsistencies in nature, there is Someone consistent and will not change: this is God.

JAMES 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

God is the creator of everything that exists.

ACTS 17:24
God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands…

He ordains, controls and can alter nature.  Sea waves are ruled by nature to stop on the shores, but God can call the waves to transgress the shore and cover the land.

AMOS 9:6
It is he that buildeth his stories in the heaven, and hath founded his troop in the earth; he that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name.

Man is helpless against the power of nature.  Nature kills — sometimes violently, sometimes in great number.  If we are under God’s care and guidance, we will be safe before occasional furies of nature.

I am a grateful creation of my Creator, and I will forever be, with His help.  I have unspeakable reasons to be thankful to Him.  My being, my strength (and weaknesses), my wisdom (and ignorance), my abilities (and inabilities), everything I possess bespeaks of His power, loving-kindness, compassion, and grace that calls for praise and thanksgiving.

Why should everybody be grateful to God?

I want you to answer this question:

1 CORINTHIANS 4:7
For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?

Is there anything in us that we did not receive?  Have we provided ourselves with life and strength?  Nobody can answer in the affirmative.  Then, if the answer is ‘no’, we must admit that somebody far, far greater than ourselves gave these things to us.  The King David, after realizing this, burst into thanksgiving.

1 CHRONICLES 29:11-13
11 Thine, O LORD,  is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.
12 Both riches and honor come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.
13 Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.

Thus, the Lord declared:

DEUTERONOMY 32:39
See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.

This declaration stands unchallenged even by the most powerful of human beings that have existed and now exist on earth.  This is God’s signature on His authority over everything that exists.

It is God’s will that His creation be grateful and offer Him the sacrifice of ‘thanksgiving’.

PSALMS 100:3-5
3 Know ye that the LORD he is God:  it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

I firmly believe that you and I belong to one of these generations mentioned in the preceding verses.  Until now and forever, the Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures.

Thanksgiving springs from the heart of somebody who has the understanding that he does not live by himself.

ACTS 17:28
For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, for we are also his offspring.

God is a Being that cannot be seen with our eyes, but can be felt by our hearts.  Our conscience as human beings does testify of His existence.

ROMANS 2:15  NLT
They demonstrate that God’s law is written within them, for their own consciences either accuse them or tell them they are doing what is right.

Man’s conscience can teach him what is good and what is bad; what is right and what is wrong; and the preference for goodness in the heart of a man proves the existence of God.

Let us all offer unto God praises and voices of thanksgiving, for we are all indebted to Him.

The offering of thanksgiving is a good thing in the sight of God.

PSALMS 92:1
It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:

Refusing to do what is good is a sin.

JAMES 4:17
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Being ungrateful is a sin!

HEBREWS 13:15-16
15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

As it pleases a doer of good to receive gratitude from the recipient, it is well-pleasing to God to be thanked by the recipients of His goodness, loving-kindness, and mercy.

JEREMIAH 9:23-24  NIV-UK
23 The Lord says, “Let not a wise man speak with pride about his wisdom. Let not the strong man speak with pride about his strength. And let not a rich man speak with pride about his riches.
24 But let him who speaks with pride speak about this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who shows lovingkindness and does what is fair and right and good on earth. For I find joy in these things,” says the Lord.

There are people prophesied in the scriptures, and called the people of God in the last days, that will fulfill this prophecy.

JEREMIAH 30:19-24
19 From them will proceed thanksgiving and the voice of those who celebrate; And I will multiply them and they will not be diminished; I will also honor them and they will not be insignificant.
20 Their children also will be as formerly, and their congregation shall be established before Me; And I will punish all their oppressors.
21 ‘Their leader shall be one of them, and their ruler shall come forth from their midst; And I will bring him near and he shall approach Me; For who would dare to risk his life to approach Me?’ declares the LORD.
22 ‘You shall be My people, And I will be your God.
23 Behold, the tempest of the LORD! Wrath has gone forth, A sweeping tempest; It will burst on the head of the wicked.
24 The fierce anger of the LORD will not turn back until He has performed and until He has accomplished the intent of His heart; in the latter days you will understand this.

To God belong all praises and honor forever and ever.  Amen.

Religious Threat To Democracy

Having heard the news that a religious leader was displeased with President Noynoy Aquino when the latter did not take all the recommendations of the former for appointive positions in government, a high ranking official of the judiciary exclaimed, “These people are the biggest threat to our democracy!” I know the man who said this. I believe he is a man of integrity. In his lengthy service to the Republic, there was no report of corruption nor any scandal wherein he was involved. He is a man of reasons and I believe what he said about such religion and their leaders.

On Target : Iglesia ni Cristo displeased with P-Noy?
By Ramon Tulfo / Columnist

PRESIDENT Noy, in his search for people to fill up key positions in his administration, has allegedly displeased a religious sect that supported him in the last election.

Iglesia ni Cristo’s Executive Minister Eduardo Manalo has allegedly written the President to ignore all his recommendees for some positions in government, according to a source close to Ka Eduardo, as he is known to his flock.

The source claimed that Ka Eduardo had said in his letter that the INC was freeing the President from the pressure of considering people recommended by the church for certain posts in his government.

My source inside the INC said there were positions that Ka Eduardo had asked P-Noy to fill up with persons from the ranks of the INC, but such requests were allegedly ignored.

The source added that the INC head had said that those whom P-Noy has appointed to key positions upon his recommendation can either be removed or they can choose to resign.

One of INC’s recommendees is Director Magtanggol Gatdula of National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

The source said the religious sect’s withdrawal of support from the Aquino administration is expected to have grave political repercussions for the fledgling administration.

I’m glad to know that there are now officials in our country that can notice the danger being posed by religious leaders that dictate who their members should vote for in an election, with the threat that they will be excommunicated if they do not follow! Such an act constitutes a blatant violation of the law of God that prohibits a religious leader to act like a lord to his flock!

I PETER 5:2-3
2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
3 Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being examples to the flock.

Such an act also violates the Constitution of the Philippines that states that:

BATAS PAMBANSA BLG. 881, OMNIBUS ELECTION CODE OF
THE PHILIPPINES, ARTICLE XXII, ELECTION OFFENSES
Section 261. Prohibited Acts. – The following shall be guilty of an election offense:

(d) Coercion of subordinates. –

(1) Any public officer, or any officer of any public or private corporation or association, or any head, superior, or administrator of any religious organization, or any employer or land-owner who coerces or intimidates or compels, or in any manner influence, directly or indirectly, any of his subordinates or members or parishioners or employees or house helpers, tenants, overseers, farm helpers, tillers, or lease holders to aid, campaign or vote for or against any candidate or any aspirant for the nomination or selection of candidates.

This law, if not being ignored, is simply being regarded as a decoration (like jewelries and "burloloys" of a harlot) by the concerned authorities who should punish violators! There is leniency on the part of the COMELEC, the governing officials, and election candidates, because they take advantage of being favored by the wishes (Read: bloc-vote practice) of these religious leaders, who in turn favor them with an advantage over appointments and contracts in government! There appears to be matching favor for favor between politicians and these religious leaders who are both greedy of power and money! And the result is? A history and a culture of corruption in Philippine politics.

I am also a religious leader with quite a number of followers in the Philippines and around the world. In my 52 years of service to the Church of God, I have never compelled any member to vote for the candidate of my choice, or even threatened them of being excommunicated just because they did not vote for my candidate – after all, a politician is not a sufficient reason to cast a member of the true church to hell.  A brother in Christ must be loved more than a politician outside the true church.

GALATIANS 6:10
As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

The Iglesia ni Manalo (Iglesia ni Cristo) is strictly implementing this wrong practice of dictating to their members whom to vote for in an election. Members are deprived of their constitutional right to vote according to their conscience without any intimidation and coercion. They are also deprived of the Biblical right to choose for themselves.

JOB 34:4
Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good.

(Translation: Primary doctrines in the Church of Christ, page 127, written by Eraño G. Manalo. “Do not destroy the unity of the church even in terms of voting or otherwise because it involves sin that merits excommunication from the church.”)

Why is there a threat on our democracy from these practices in religion? Granting that this religious group has gained grounds being in the majority of Philippine populace, the wish of the leader will be the deciding factor of who will lead the government, thus turning our government from democracy to religious dictatorship, and directly violating the inviolable provision of the Constitution that there must be separation of the church and the state! Simple deduction and undeniably true! I hope that our politicians realize the danger that follows if these practices are not corrected by proving that nobody is above the law including the leader of the largest religion in the country! These leaders must be punished!

Refer to current news and events happening in the Philippines; arrest without warrant, arrest of people by officers in plain clothes, filing of cases after cases to harass enemies of their atrocity, and many more...

Until next time, God willing.

The Lucky Person I Am: Most Slandered Me

Remembering Matthew 5:11, especially when I’m alone “makes me happy, makes me feel fine.”  I feel fine because as human being, I will naturally feel hurt and at times angered by accusations from all directions, but realizing the essence of what the Lord Jesus Christ said, such feelings will instantaneously be gone! The verse says:

MATTHEW 5:11
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

To be blessed by God while others curse, revile, persecute, say all manners of evil, and falsely against you is luck! Blessings that come from God are priceless. It is the root of all good things that a man may hope for. It cannot be fully described by human tongue or language. The Lord Jesus Christ was slandered too, and some of those defamations were recorded as follows:

MATTHEW 27:63
Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.

JOHN 7:20
The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee?

MATTHEW 12:24
But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.

MATTHEW 9:34
But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils.

JOHN 10:33
The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

MATTHEW 11:19
The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

Even the apostles were slandered:

THE ACTS 25:7
And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.

III JOHN 1:9-10
9 I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
10 Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.

II TIMOTHY 4:14-15
14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:
15 Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.

Even the Christians of the first century were slandered, no different from me.

I PETER 2:12
Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

This is the path that almost all the people of God have walked throughout their sojourn on earth.

Most Slandered Me

I believe using mathematical and logical calculations that, I am the most slandered man in the history of Christianity. The defamations being thrown to my person “go beyond borders.” I mean beyond the borders of the land of my birth, the Philippines. By using the most efficient cyberspace technology that is lenient in terms of charging responsibility and accountability, my detractors were able to popularize these lies beyond borders. One thing I can assure the Members of the Church of God International, however, is that the lies they are sending beyond borders, if treated in shallowest of equity and justice, will never gain ground.

To my God be the Glory forever! And to me and to all that believe in what I preach, His blessings! Amen.

II TIMOTHY 3:12
Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
