Faith Can Move Mountains of Shyness
Bro. Eli,
I am an introvert, a loner, a social aloof, but as I see the Biblical principles of a Church, it requires teamwork, which I find it difficult in my part, not that I don’t want to help, but I am rather having an “inferiority complex”. Now, is the concept of “individuality”, “minority”, and “introversion” from mankind against God’s will? Do I have to undergo a change of personality so that I can meet the demands of the Church that requires social interaction with the brotherhood?
Paxton Drummond
Dear Introvert Paxton,
One of the most important teachings of the Bible is ‘renewal’.
II CORINTHIANS 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
A Christian is a renewed person.This is achieved by the intervention of the spirit of God.
PSALMS 51:10
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
The apostle Paul assured us that this is the work of God and not of ourselves.
TITUS 3:5
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
It is impossible for man to be renewed by himself.
JEREMIAH 10:23
O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
Especially, if we are accustomed to sinning.
JEREMIAH 13:23
Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.
It is only God, and God alone, who can cause the proper rectification in our person.
PROVERBS 16:9
A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.
For your information, I was also a former introvert. I feel uneasy when I am with people. I do not want to talk with them; and am always afraid that I might commit mistakes and be spurned; but the renewal promised by the Holy Scriptures happened in my person. Now, I love to talk to people. I want to be with them. Hear stories from them; know their wishes, and be of help in the best manner I can (of course, with God’s help). This I have achieved because of faith. As the saying goes: “Faith can move mountains”.
MATTHEW 17:20
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
By faith, Noah built an enormous ship for the salvation of his family.
HEBREWS 11:7
By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
By faith, Sarah was given strength to bear Isaac at the age of almost 100 years.
HEBREWS 11:11
Through faith also Sarah herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
By faith, Moses stood against an empire and liberated his people, Israel.
HEBREWS 11:24-27
24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;
25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward.
27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
By faith, an introvert can be an extrovert!
I have learned to trust, not on my own capacity but, with the power and the capacity of my Creator. To whom all honor and glory and praises is due, forever and ever. AMEN!
God Bless.

ReplyDeleteI can totally relate. Being a Christian motivates and enables you to do beyond what you thought you are incapable of. Faith gives you confidence and trust in yourself to accomplish things that is required of your faith, since you believe Christ is working with you whenever it is according to God's will. I've always been grateful every waking day of my life knowing I am and will continue to be a part of God's church with His help and mercy. And ever since, I have loved Bro.Eli like a father in the flesh and Bro.Daniel as a big brother for their truthful and sincere love and care to every single brethren and even to those unfortunate people outside the church. All glory and thanks be to our Almighty Father and Lord Jesus Christ, forever! <3

ReplyDeleteThanks be to God.
Thank God for using Bro. Eli to teach this kind of doctrine,no one else like him. :D
ReplyDeleteMoses was also introvert. The book of Numbers describes him as “very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.” It was only when God paired him up with his extroverted brother Aaron that Moses agreed to take on the assignment. Moses would be the speechwriter, the behind-the-scenes. The book of Exodus suggests that introversion plays yin to the yang of extroversion; that the medium is not always the message; and that people followed Moses because his words were thoughtful, not because he spoke them well.
ReplyDeleteHe was introvert (Moses)in a sense that he is not eloquent in speech (his inferiority) Ex:4:10
DeleteBro. Eli is introvert no more but the meekness has been observed even he lead the congregation.
Salamat sa Dios!

ReplyDeleteLearn to trust to the power and the capacity of our Creator! :D
ReplyDeleteIntroverts draw their strength from within themselves. They tire easily if they are among people. But by faith, an introvert man of God can be renewed through the holy spirit that resides in them. That is why Noah was able to build his enormous arc, Sara gave birth to Isaac at the age of almost a 100 years and Moses liberated his people from the great Egyptian empire. These are introverts who think less of them selves. Noah spent his entire life building his arc. Sarah, an ageing woman, never thought to carry a child and Moses, abandoned the glory of Egypt in exchange for the freedom of Israelites. FAITH CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS. Thanks be to God and to His Son Jesus Christ for this wonderful blog.

ReplyDeleteMay commonality...nkarelate po aq jan. I share the same experience even until now to the extent that sometimes I no longer know what should be my deportment in front of people of diverse attitudes & motivations. Mdlas aq aloof & apprehensive of how do people look at me. Mdlas nagiging confident lng aq but not necessarily complacent whenever I have a mandate for doing some function or responsibility prang kylngan pa tuloy ng spark plug bago umandar. He3. Indeed, mdmi tlga na2wa ang faith such that it can move mountains coupled of course sa pkikinig & pagpapasakop sa messenger of GOD nowadays. Thnx for the enlightenment Bro. Eli. To GOD be the glory.

ReplyDeleteI may call myself also an introvert for I always wanted to be alone, working my mind on many matters in reflection. I seldom joined groups and always reluctant. But when I knew about Christ and made me find the feeling of unworthiness in His presence my life turned around and found the understanding of His Love in His Mercy and made me see He meant to call us for His Father and our Father in Heaven and become truly for each other among His brethren. Living with God's children is restful, peaceful, happy and joyful and being alone denies one of all these.
ReplyDeleteA millions thanks to God!

But with God's help and by faith, we are able to overcome shyness and proceed doing the will of God in collaboration with other servants.
Even though this seems to be a minute topic in life, Bro. Eli still gives ample time and thoughtful attention to answer such queries - something that other religious leaders probably would have just ignored at once.
