Grammatically Speaking

Grammatically: The word "adventist" is a noun.

The phrase "seventh-day" is an adjective (adjectival) phrase.

If the meaning of the word “adventist,” is a person that awaits for the arrival or coming into being of something (which certainly is the true meaning), therefore: the name, Seventh Day Adventist Church, means a church that awaits for the seventh day and not of the advent of Christ!

This fact is also true even if the original “Iglesia Adventista del Septimo Dia” is used!

Grammatically also:
It should be “cada septimo dia” because ever since Ellen White led this movement, some undetermined number of Saturdays have passed!

The Colossians were warned by the Apostle Paul about being judged for the non- observance of sabbaths and other carnal ordinances in meats and drinks which according to him are a shadow of the real thing that is Christ.

COLOSSIANS 2:16-17 (RSV)
16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a sabbath.
17 These are only a shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.

COLOSSIANS 2:16-17(CODEX SINAITICUS IN ENGLISH TRANSLATION)
16 Let no one therefore judge you in eating or in drinking or in respect of a feast or of a new moon or of sabbaths,
17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the body of Christ is the substance.

Note: The ordinances in the Old Testament are shadows of the real substance, the body of Christ.

These are carnal ordinances given to the Israelites and will tarry until the appointed time of reformation!

HEBREWS 9:10
Which stood only in meats and drinks, and diverse washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

These simple Biblical truths were not understood by the leaders of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Their blasphemy against the Holy Spirit alleging that “Sunday worship” is a mark of the beast has caused a toll in their understanding of the Scriptures!

II CORINTHIANS 3:14-15
14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same veil untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which veil is done away in Christ.
15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart.

II CORINTHIANS 4:4
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

The facts are: There will be a time of reformation. The appointed time is the change of the priesthood.

HEBREWS 7:12
For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

From Moses to Christ!

HEBREWS 3:1-3
1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honor than the house.

It was prophesied even in the time of Moses that Christ will replace him in the priesthood.

DEUTERONOMY 18:18
I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

The fulfillment of this prophecy is Christ.

THE ACTS 3:22, 20
22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:

The law of Moses was changed and the law of Christ took effect.

THE ACTS 13:39
And by Him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

Until John were the law and the prophets.

LUKE 16:16
The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

Christ is the end of the law.

THE ROMANS 10:4-6
4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.
6 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)

We are now under the Law of Christ and not under the Law of Moses!

I CORINTHIANS 9:20-21 (RSV)
20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews; to those under the law I became as one under the law — THOUGH NOT BEING MYSELF UNDER THE LAW — that I might win those under the law.
21 To those outside the law I became as one outside the law — not being without law toward God but under the law of Christ — that I might win those outside the law.

The Law of Christ is the law that Paul taught to the first century Christians and not the Law of Moses.

GALATIANS 6:2
Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the Law of Christ.

The collection of “tithes” is a part of the Levitical law.

HEBREWS 7:5
And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

Is this not the reason why Seventh-Day Adventist ministers cling to the Old Testament law of Moses? Tithing is not a Christian law! It was replaced when the priesthood was changed!

HEBREWS 7:12
For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

The replacement for tithing is:

II CORINTHIANS 9:7
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Let us test the spirits.

I JOHN 4:1
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

There is somewhere, somehow concealed deceit in insisting that the law of Moses must be observed, the gain and riches a pastor may get from tithes.

II CORINTHIANS 2:17 (RSV)
For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God's word; but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ.

May God bless you.

  8. Very informative. No need to do a fact check for this post regarding the seventh day adventist church, for this article itself is factual. I remember back then that I felt intimidated by the members of that church but now I pity them for I now know better of how erronous their church name and doctrine is. I just hope that someday, like me, they (the members) will also be enlighten, and to help them- I recommend reading this blog.

  14. The Law of Moses, along with the observance of Sabbath on the 7th day and tithing, had already ended when the Law of Christ took effect. We are already in the Christian era. And as Christians, the law that we must fulfill is the law of Christ.

  17. In my opinion, all religious organizations at present that still implement the mandatory 10% tithe collections from their members, are not true religious groups because their pastors or heads do not understand the teachings of the new testament regarding tithes. Or maybe, they maintain the 10% tithe collections to enrich themselves at the expense of their ignorant members. Thanks be to God!

  18. I totally agree with this blog. Many, not just some religious denominations cling to the old law of Moses because of profit and what they could get from their members materially. One good example that false prophets can't get away from is the tithes, simply because they earn and gain out of it,that it becomes business. Thank you for this article, may it help those who are still in the wrong faith to think and leave their wrong beliefs.

  27. There's no sense in the bible awaiting the seventh day. Although the SON OF GOD signifies the Day but no whete in the bible he is signified the seventh day. So why wait the seventh day? Bro. Eli is right in pointing their church that awaits seventh day and not the coming of the SON of GOD in the air.

  31. I don't buy the teaching, grammatically speaking, you are right because that's your interpretation, However, that's not the fact.

I like the way you presented the veil issue, and then I remembered, was the veil covered on their faces to see the law or Moses' face, whose glory was shining.

    and a lot more

  32. The truth can only be found in the house of God to God be the glory

  33. I now see why other religions like SDA loves following the old testament. Because of the old testament, they would have a reason to implement tithing to their members even though it is no longer part of the law of Christ.
