Judging the Killings: Not to Blame Duterte but Sum up the Truth

9/03/2016 , 159 Comments

Judging with fairness and justice is based on facts, reality, and logic. History will testify that among those difficult cases being resolved by human justice, most frequently, logic, reality and facts contribute together to sum up what the truth is.

The fact is, there were two babies, one was dead and one was alive. There were two women claiming to be the biological mother of the living baby. To solve and to render judgment in the seemingly difficult case, Solomon used logic.

I KINGS 3:16-28
16 Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.
17 And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.
18 And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.
19 And this woman's child died in the night; because she overlaid it.
20 And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.
21 And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear.
22 And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spoke before the king.
23 Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living.
24 And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.
25 And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.
26 Then spoke the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.
27 Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.
28 And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.

There is an international outcry about what are allegedly extra-judicial killings in Duterte's war against illicit drugs. I say "allegedly" because these are not considered a fact.

Meanwhile, may I remind the media to be careful in their use of words. "Extra-judicial killings" must mean that the ones doing the killings are people in power!

It is most certainly lopsided to term "extra-judicial killing" in killings done by the criminals themselves!

How unfair it can be to attribute all the killings that happened since May 10 of this year to the administration of the seating President. Journalists must practice a sense of delicadeza in attributing to anybody any wrongdoing in society. Personally, I believe that all the killings that started since May 10 must not be imputed on the Duterte administration.

It is constitutionally clear and precise that Duterte took the reigns of power only on the last day of June of this year. How could anyone in his proper state of logic, conscience and mind, think that those who were killed in the last regime are to be blamed on the government of President Duterte? Isn’t this the implication we get from reports of both local and international press today? If one cannot reckon the beginning – and the time boundaries - very certainly he cannot also be sure of what will be the end.

ISAIAH 46:9-10
9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,
10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

There are many avenues that can be considered in order to arrive at the surest point of justice and equity. Surely the shortest line between two distances is between two exact points that run as straight as possible from one to the other.

A point to start with is, could it be that criminals who are being hunted now by the Duterte administration are killing one another in order to protect their own interest!?

Could it be that there are killings that happened mainly because the police enforcers are trying to defend the constitution, or the order of their commander-in-chief, and their own lives!?

Could it be that there are those who run amok because there is no future for their vices and illegal activities under the Duterte administration? And could it be that they just wanted to implicate others, even the innocent!?

If the answer to all these questions is yes, then it is illogical to blame and count the numbers of those who were killed and have died from May 10 to this day to the Duterte administration. How stupid can one be!!! How could you lump the numbers and attribute it to one and only one cause? Worse, you go forward and term them as “extra-judicial killings.”

We know scientifically and logically that drug addicts are persons considered to be out of control, even by themselves. One way to help them is to show them and make them taste a blow from the arm of the law. I repeat: show them and make them taste a blow from the arm of the law.

If they will see that pushers and users are being prosecuted and not tolerated, they would think twice in pursuing their vices that are most certainly stupid. Punishment is a deterrent to crime.

HEBREWS 10:28
He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

We have a very strong fiber in the fabric of Philippine jurisprudence that is called "human rights." It is also a part of the law of the land that while there are clear clauses that protect animals, there is no law or section nor article in the constitution that provides that to protect animal life, we have to sacrifice the life of a human being.

In the Bible, there are people who cannot be considered humans to enjoy human rights, let alone, convicted drug lords and pushers!

II PETER 2:12
But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;

More to come.

Sincerely yours,
Brother Eli

  1. Our president is not getting young. Supposed to be, he should be relaxing now - he is on his retiring age anyway. But, he chose to face a heavy burden in our favor. This a rare chance we should grab. We do not know if we will have another Duterte or a strong leader in the future. So sad that there are sectors in our society that choose to pursue their propaganda and try to discredit the effort of our president.

The term “extra judicial killings” is loosely used by thosed in media to magnify that those killings was perpetuated by the government to discredit the government fight against the proliferation of illegal drugs in our country. Hope this blog will be read and reach by most of our kababayans to open their mind about what‘s happening in our country. Let‘s pray for our President for the betterment of our country. If punishments are strictly enforced, they will know what will happen to them and they will learn to follow the laws.

  21. We should be fair in judging. Let us look at both sides before blaming someone. Journalist and media should be careful in using terms because they are very influencial, anything they'd say may affect the peoples ideology. Whatever it is, at the end truth will prevail.

  22. Yes you are right that it should not be blamed to the present administration extrajudicial killings that happened in the past administration. The authorities now in power must use the full force of the law to apprehend those who are not obeying the law with fair judgement not by means of killings. Thank you Bro. Something out of the ordinary. Extra-ordinary. An extra ordinary change. And change has indeed come. Maybe drastic action is what is really needed to be done to effect change. And of we really have God in our life, we should not be afraid of these changes.

  30. Now that Mr Controversy has mentioned it, the term "extra-judicial killings" is quite unfair. The Duterte Administration is getting blamed outright just by using the term, be it in media or senate investigations. Mr. Controversy really has got this knack of identifying skewed versions of reality being perpetrated by those who would rather live opposite of the Truth.

Its sad to say that they didn't appreciate of what his doing mostly in the goverment and media. Like yesterday about davao city bombing of abu sayyaf you see a Mr. Duterte crying his beloved davaoeño after bombing result many victim are cause injured and apparently some are died innocent. He visit a davao hospital as a concerned cetizen to the victim you see how hopeless it is but some journalis did saw Mr. Duterte crying on his davaeño and declare a 'state of lawlessness'.

I agree Kuya's told that some journalism are taken his money purpose to destroy his personality.

So don't judged him and support the 'HUMAN RIGHTS' since many changes have occurred. At first he elected you/us because we want to changes now many have done then you/us roar him.

  41. Media is one of the contributors that change the perspective of a certain audience. If the media uses the word "extra-judicial killings", then they must be implying that a person who has power is behind all these killings, which is not right.

These logic reasons said by Mr. Controversy X may be one of the causes why there are reported killings due to drug related reasons. It might be that the suspects are killing each other just to protect their own, or the police are just mainly doing their jobs. There might be reasons why, but I am certain that we should not blame the president for that, because all he wants is that this country should be better, peaceful, and be more developed.

I know for sure, that drug addicts and pushers already knew the possible consequence of doing it, such as ruining their lives. They know that using drugs will harm them. True that they shouldn't be considered humans to enjoy human rights, since they the ones who causes trouble to the nation, who murders people for their own purpose, and who destroys other people.

I pray for the Philippines to a better nation. I know God allows all these things in His favor, since he is the one who knows the end down to the beginning of everything.

Thank you for this eye-opening blog, Mr. Controversy X! Thanks be to God!

  43. Filipinos nowadays really need a firm hand for disciplinary action. History tells that because of too much inclination and favoritism and tolerance to those who were in power and wealth, we neglect the beauty of our law, the right usage of our Constitution.. to the point that even lawmakers do not follow the laws they've made.

Now we see the Change in our government, we clearly see among us who's against it, maybe because they won't gain anything from it, or might loss more because they've been doing illegal stuff all their lives.. The President needs our help in order to make his dream for the Philippines: a Drug-free nation, capable to sustain the needs of every filipinoes, a law-abiding country, and most of all, a God-fearing nation.

So instead of playing judges, why not try the role of followers first. Let's help the President. Let's help our country.

That in my interpretation the mother who said "O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it" don't want the baby to be killed and she don't want to give to the other mother either?

What will King Solomon do? Will he kill the baby?

  46. I know deep in my heart that Pres Duterte is doing everything to eliminate illegal drugs in country since this menace is the root of evil in our society. If we will make strong stance to fight this evil like what our Pres is doing, where are we heading for? Majority of crimes that are happening in our country are drug related. If we can eliminate illegal drugs in our country no doubt we can have a peaceful environment and we can further attain economic development. This is what our Pres Digong wants to realize. 67. It was too good to be true and almost a state of perfection that 100 percent of Filipinos supports Duterte when he took the highest seat in the government, the Presidency. This is politics. Duterte inevitably expects that despite his practice and implementation of diplomacy and democracy. But before I go further, let me connote that Bro.Eli wasn't justifying any sort of "KILLING" here. Mr.Controversy was just stating the clear premise that they are just allegations so he speaks of technicality. To teach us to be objective and not subjective about it. And know how to make the right judgment.

There are killings. That's not the issue. That has never really been an issue in the Philippines. When have you watched a news and not hear of any CCTV murders, diverse massacres and killing sprees? To hear that nobody got killed even for ONE WHOLE DAY in the Philippines would be THE NEWS. It's just likely unusual. So what am I driving at? We cannot incorporate all the killings to Duterte because killings in the Philippines is not unusual. The generals or syndicates involved could have ordered the hit. People take advantage when they have the opportunity to make their actions look legal when it's not. It has become a national excuse to kill a drug lord , pusher or dealer because it sounded lawful. But it could also be abused as an excuse just to kill anyone you do not like. PERIOD!

Thanks be to God Bro.Eli for such a controversial blog. To God be the Glory.

This how the government must end the drug proliferation and evil in our society. Many lives shal be spared and saved. Bring them the true justice of the law.

Filipinos abroad died the same death penalty because of prohibited drugs. It's time to show them also that our country doesn't tolerate it too. Mr. President, I support the death penalty for these drug lords. They are only few against many. One head against the body. One person against the society. Take the shepherd out the sheeps will gp astray. That can be learned from biblical perspective.

  76. PART 2

    MY VIEWPOINT

I wish I could apply this verse in John 9:25
    New International Version..
He replied, "Whether he is a sinner or not, I don't know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!" .... to express the crux of my viewpoint. Because at a incommensurable  peripheral perspective, I want to think that if Duterte indeed was involved in the extra-judicial killings.....I guess it somehow  helped take out the trashes and garbages of the society. So job well done Mr.President! But as an MCGI, we were not taught that way. And the verse applies to Bro.Eli more than anyone else in this world. After all the incogitable persecutions he went through.  But let me reiterate that this blog isn't supporting the killings. It's supporting the technical terminologies of the law. Because the extra-judicial killings have been taking place unprecedented.

Thanks be to God Bro.Eli for putting wisdom on this blog. To GOD be the Glory.

Just asking!

  80. Very good point. People are quick to judge and to blame. They tend to easily accept allegations and hearsay without weighing up things, hearing both sides, or considering alternative possibilities. This is a good reminder of the foundation of judging something and arriving to the truth: Consider the LOGIC, REALITY, and FACTS. I'm glad I found not just a sensible blogger and his wonderful blogs, but someone who can show us what the Bible says about the things that transpire in our time. You can never go wrong with the Bible. The Truth is in the Bible. Logic, Reality, and Facts dictate so.

  82. Judging the Killings:Not blaming Duterte but to sum up the truth

The term "extra-judicial killings" is the killing of a person by governmental authorities without the sanction of any judicial proceeding or legal process. Journalist is using this term illogically. Killings of the criminals themselves should not be called as this term.

We should be careful in the words we utter. Especially if you are one of the primary source of information in a certain society, you must be noble-minded. Because if you will not be well educated to tell the news, it may mislead people who's listening to you.

And also to know whats the truth about how our government perform well as they can, to make not just one person but for a whole nation benefits. Now as what I've understand about this blog that our government now especially our President Rodrigo Duterte do the best way or move to eliminate all drugs and illegal doing in our nation to stop violence, fear from crimes, cleanliness, and to create a thinking especially for those who want to invest in the safe country. I am thankful about how our government perform now as what our head state did. On the other-hand for our dear human rights and medias who says and give ideas to people about extra judicial killings and to government, they should know and investigate first before they speak and tell in a worldwide media and give the best clear definition about they telling of. God's words are logical, mathematical and Scientific perfectly and exactly true.
King Solomon used logic to be exactly true his judgment on the two women gave birth. I Kings 3: 16-28
logic in the news is very important for your news to be true but some journalists do not use logic therefore there is injustice in the news. Even human rights are also injustice because they're protecting animals.
In the Bible, there are people who cannot be considered humans to enjoy human rights, let alone, convicted drug lords and pushers!

" Judging with fairness and justice is based on facts, realiry, and logic. History will testify that among those difficult cases being resolved by human justice, most frequently, logic, reality and facts contribute together to sum up what the truth is." - it is a must! We can read proofs on the bible; the righteous judgement of King Solomon who used logic on judgement that was written on the book of I King 3:16-28.
We people, we judge something immediately sometimes we don't think before we speak, my point is we must know the stories on both side before we judge like what King Solomon did and think first before we speak and never never never jump to the conclusion.
Duterte's Administration is doing great job! May God be with us and more power!

  104. We must know all "legitimate" facts before we join in the discussions and take actions when it comes to crime and corruption. We need to know the root of problems, when it took place and how the problems came up. There are many people, especially the "keyboard warriors" and other ignorant people, who just join in just to look smart, gain popularity and meet certain ends, like bashing and ending the Duterte Administration. If everyone REALLY wants to eliminate crime and corruption, then judging fairly is the first action to take.

  106. I certainly agree to Bro. Eli in his call for justice againsts these stentorian outcry on the present administration in the Philippines. Before concluding that these killings are "extrajudicial killings", they must first practice the consideration of facts, reality and logic.

Though the President declared war against drugs and promised to eliminate it, we must not implicate all the killings against him, without even reckoning the existing facts.

Again, I'm one for President Duterte's campaign to clear the illicit drugs in our country, since most of the crime were nearly related to it.

Four thumbs up to Mr. Controversy X! May God always bless you!

  107. An extrajudicial killing is the killing of a person by governmental authorities without the sanction of any judicial proceeding or legal process. Extrajudicial punishments are mostly seen by humanity to be unethical, since they bypass the due process of the legal jurisdiction in which they occur. Extrajudicial killings often target leading political, trade union, dissident, religious, and social figures and may be carried out by the state government or other state authorities like the armed forces or police.

Section 3(a) of the United States Torture Victim Protection Act contains a definition of extrajudicial killing:

a deliberate killing not authorized by a previous judgement pronounced by a regular constituted court affording all the judicial guarantees which are recognized as indispensable by civilized peoples. Such term, however, does not include any such killing that, under international law, is lawfully carried out under the authority of a foreign nation. (wikipedia)

  110. This blog is absolutely true we cant blame our president everytime the problems like this comeout. i believe that
the powerful men involve in illegal drugs are the one who killed those innocent people because of their own sake.
they are also the one who's behind to give a command to the police member in killing the people who knew that they are involve in illegal drugs,
just to protect their position and lives. So it's really unfair to our president if we blame him.
I also agree that media should be careful in what they are saying because media has a big influence in public

Drug lords, pushers, and users are not afraid to propagate their criminal activities because of uncertainty of their punishment even if they were caught and prosecuted. Uncertainty of punishment occurs because of corruption, tolerance, and greed of those in authority and power. Death to caught in the act drug lords and pushers who retaliated during police operations may be reasonable, just, and appropriate.

I agree with Bro Eli that the use of the term "extra-judicial killings" attributed by journalists against President Duterte is not fair.

Actually, I really pity President Rodrigo R. Duterte and PNP Chief Bato Dela Rosa. They are so burdened not only by the war on drugs and terrorism but also by irresponsible journalists, false accusations and persecutions.

I cannot imagine what would Philippines be in the near future if President Duterte was not elected as President. For all we know, we are already living in a society where zombie-like or living dead dwells with us.

The president must act swiftly to clean up its ranks. Otherwise, I can see by logic that things are going to be very bad. The enemy is in hurry in clean up operations likewise. They have no respect of life anymore. They acted like animals which their logic is elimination of the weak.
